Cynthia McKinney, Others, Turned Back From Gaza Mission

Cynthia McKinney loves a good challenge.

The forrmer congresswoman, who this year ran for president on the Green Party ticket, attempted to sway Barack Obama and the world yesterday when she and 16 others attempted to deliver medical supplies to the Gaza Strip, which Israel has been attacking for the past four days. The activists, organized by Free Gaza Group, announced their trip a few days ago, but were turned back yesterday by an Israeli military boat. Fox News provides the adventurous details:

… McKinney, unimpeded by the "closed military zone" imposed by Israel, was among 16 people aboard a medical supply boat that collided with an Israeli naval ship Tuesday as it tried to enter coastal waters around Gaza.

The yacht, owned by the U.S.-based Free Gaza Movement, was reportedly carrying 3.5 tons of medical supplies donated by Cyprus. A press release from the group claimed "several Israeli gunboats intercepted the Dignity; she was heading on a mission of mercy to Gaza." They said the Israeli military fired machine guns into the water in an attempt to stop the Dignity’s progress.

Israeli officials admitted "physical contact" with the boat, but say they only took such measures after the yacht failed to heed its radio warnings. McKinney and the others were then sent on their way back to Lebanon, from whence it came. They will reportedly make another attempt.

Please explain to me how Israel is going about causing untold hell for the ENTIRE WORLD? The Palestinians have caused their share of untold hell on Israel as well, why don’t you acknowledge that? The Jews can’t be safe or rest until the rest of the Middle East accept their right to exist. You completely and totally obsolve the Palestinians of any accountability.

NO. I didn’t “absolve Palestinians”. You KNOW I didn’t too, you’re just making things up as you go along because you have no argument. Show your husband—when he gets home—what a poor argument you put up & how you lowered everyone’s opinion of people married to Jews by calling me an anti semite for no reason—just because I tell the truth & you had nothing convincing to say. I said Israel started the entire thing with their religious belief that Israel is the Promised Land only for Jews & that Israel keeps it going—so they can eventually win. They don’t WANT to negotiate & have peace because then they have to let muslims live in “THEIR” country—despite what they are claim—they don’t walk the walk they just talk the talk! And I said the world is SICK & TIRED of it. This is all true.

By Char Star on 01/04/2009 2:18 am In my opinion you do “absolve” the Palestinians. You do not condemn the barrage of rockets they launched into Israel for week before Israel decided to retaliate. You are wrong that Israel doesn’t want peace, Hamas instigated this . I do not call you an anti semite for no reason, I have great reason to call you anti semite. Many people on this site have voiced their disapproval with the military strikes on Gaza by Israel, I respect their opinion because it wasn’t peppered with hateful comments such as yours. The Jews aren’t going away Char, no matter how much you would welcome their demise. As for me lowering eveyone’s opinion of people married to Jews, I think you give me far too much credit.

If its true that Israel has always wanted peace & its all the other side victimizing Israelis—then how do you explain the records from Israel itself in which EIGHT military operations were carried out against muslim cities by Israeli troops in 1948—before the ink was dry on the UN peace-keeping document? The aggression is well documented—by Israel’s OWN records.

Char, what happened in 1948 is unfortunate. So if I’m understanding you correctly, Israel should pay for what they did in 1948 for the rest of it’s existence? Char, every country in the world is guilty for some form of aggression, yet if you look back at recent conflicts between Israel and Gaza, or Israel and Lebanon, Israel has not been the aggressor, they retaliated against the violence perpretrated against them.

If the events of 1948 is all you can come up with, without also acknowledging the efforts of Israel to live in peace with its Arab neighbors since then, then I request that you don’t waste any more of my time.

Catherine, she once had nasty things to say about my husband being Muslim. She didn’t do her homework then either, as if she had she would know that a Muslim can marry a Christian, a Jewish person or another Muslim.

It’s unfortunate, not to mention rude that she said nasty things about your husband being a Muslim. My husband and I have many Muslim friends, many people are surprised by that for some reason. Because of the history some people just assume that Jews and Muslims are just natural enemies.

Yep, and then she’ll come back on in a few days as if nothing happened…….Completely strange at best.

Elaine gets it! She acknowledges that “God” told Israel it “was their promised land” & that “God gave them that land” & that “they are keeping it, come hell or high water!” That is right—that’s the entire problem in a nutshell.

You see that as a problem, I don’t. When you lob 80 rockets into my country, I’m going to take you out by what ever means necessary. It is unfortunate that innocents suffer, but when you let terrorist into you abode and let them set up camp and headquarters in your homes then you suffer the result of doing so. No different if I let a gang member move into my home, I am not safe, my husband is not safe, my children are not safe and God help the neighbors when they leave for work as they and their property, are no longer safe either. These Hamas fools are the same ones who are deliberately send their children on the front line of these attacks they are the same ones strapping bombs onto their children and they are the same people commandeering the take over of peoples homes to use as their headquarters to carry out their terrorist attacks, They are deliberately doing this, they are the cause for all these unnecessary deaths, NOT Isreal! You need to place the blame rightfully onto Hamas, Isreal has every right to defend themselves!

You see that as a problem, I don’t.” Thank you for a little comic relief after all that hot and heavy posting!!! It also exemplifies both sides’ opinion about their own rights to existence. Elaine, I don’t always agree with your opinions, but I admire them and you. Keep going! And thanks for making me laugh in the midst of all this turmoil.
