Did Bloggers Catch Sarah Palin's Yahoo! E-mail Hacker?

Bloggers might have been the first to identify Sarah Palin’s Yahoo! e-mail hacker.
wowOwow reported last week that Democratic Rep. Mike Kernell of Tennessee told The Tennessean that his 20-year-old son David C. Kernell was being linked by the blogosphere (such as the political blog site, TennesseeFree.com) to the Sarah Palin Yahoo! e-mail hacking.
On Monday, a local news station reported that the FBI stepped up its investigation and looked into the possibility that the blogosphere was right … and David Kernell, a University of Tennessee college student, might be the one who went into the personal e-mail of vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and published some of its contents on the Internet. WBIR.com in Knoxville, TN, reported that witnesses saw FBI agents enter David Kernell’s Fort Sanders apartment early Sunday morning. When the FBI arrived at Kernell’s place, he and his roommates reportedly fled. One witness told WBIR that the investigators took about two hours taking pictures of everything inside the apartment.
The son’s father, a Memphis lawmaker and chairman of Tennessee’s House of Government Operations Commitee, told the Associated Press last week that he was not involved with the hacking.
"I had nothing to do with it, I had no knowledge or anything," Mike Kernell told the AP.
According to Wired.com, the e-mail thief wrote a presumptive first-person account of the hack (that was later erased) on 4chan.org. Reports say the hacker used the screen name "Rubico" and the e-mail account "rubico10@yahoo.com," and Wired.com reported that many blog sites traced "Rubico" to the UT college student’s apartment complex.
