Did Bloggers Catch Sarah Palin's Yahoo! E-mail Hacker?

Bloggers might have been the first to identify Sarah Palin’s Yahoo! e-mail hacker.

wowOwow reported last week that Democratic Rep. Mike Kernell of Tennessee told The Tennessean that his 20-year-old son David C. Kernell was being linked by the blogosphere (such as the political blog site, TennesseeFree.com) to the Sarah Palin Yahoo! e-mail hacking.

On Monday, a local news station reported that the FBI stepped up its investigation and looked into the possibility that the blogosphere was right … and David Kernell, a University of Tennessee college student, might be the one who went into the personal e-mail of vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and published some of its contents on the Internet. WBIR.com in Knoxville, TN, reported that witnesses saw FBI agents enter David Kernell’s Fort Sanders apartment early Sunday morning. When the FBI arrived at Kernell’s place, he and his roommates reportedly fled. One witness told WBIR that the investigators took about two hours taking pictures of everything inside the apartment.

The son’s father, a Memphis lawmaker and chairman of Tennessee’s House of Government Operations Commitee, told the Associated Press last week that he was not involved with the hacking.

"I had nothing to do with it, I had no knowledge or anything," Mike Kernell told the AP.

According to Wired.com, the e-mail thief wrote a presumptive first-person account of the hack (that was later erased) on 4chan.org. Reports say the hacker used the screen name "Rubico" and the e-mail account "rubico10@yahoo.com," and Wired.com reported that many blog sites traced "Rubico" to the UT college student’s apartment complex.

Okay, if the FBI now has the proof needed to prosecute…..they’d better prosecute. I may not agree with Sarah Palin’s politics, but I will defend hers or any of our rights to due process. If her emails are to be made public because of their possible importance in regard to how it will affect her role as our Vice President, then it should be done legally. I would hope that because he is the son of a politician he will not receive special treatment.

Wow Eliza, not a good day eh? I disagree, we all have rights, and her rights should not be abused anymore than yours or mine. But as I always say, this is what separates us from so many other countries in the world, our right to agree to disagree….

well, let’s make it their ‘home-state’ prison, not the Fed-Hotel—-or should we harken back to the Reep’s G. Gordon Liddy—-‘string-em-up’ with piano wire? as the comment in ‘the dogs of war’, when mercenaries discuss where to buy their ‘invasion-gear’—-one mentions a former arms merchant. Walken notes the guy sold bunk to the Croatians, who chopped out most of his stomach—-‘oughta make him an honest man’. seems we need such vs. our nutz mass-killers—-need such lessons—-or transplant their legs, arms, whatever to Iraqui vets—-might make our political future ‘honest.’—-we obviously have to become Serious. As a CEO, my ‘firm’, legally kept my taxes below employees!!!! ya know? this site could get your talented ‘dead’—-as in ‘Catch 22’—-‘dissapeared’——

Right Now: Veterans Climb Government Building, Call for Arrest of Bush and Cheney Impeachment movement challenges Bush at every turn The enormous banner hanging from the National Archive building… right now! Right now, five military veterans — from Veterans for Peace — are occupying a 35-foot high ledge at the National Archive Building and have raised a 22x8-foot banner reading, “DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION. ARREST BUSH AND CHENEY: WAR CRIMINALS!” The veterans currently risking arrest have declared their intention to stay on the ledge, fasting for 24 hours “in remembrance of those who have perished and those still suffering from the crimes of the Bush administration,” according to a written statement. On the ledge, the veterans have brought with them a portable PA system, and they are broadcasting recorded statements from prominent Americans for the impeachment and/or arrest of George W. Bush and Richard Cheney. Other impeachment activists are at the entrance of the National Archives distributing “Citizens Arrest Warrants” to those waiting in line. This is the type of boldness that activists have displayed across the country to bring much-needed attention to this movement. LETS TALK ABOUT IMPEACHMENT ! WHAT-EVER HAPPENS TO PLAIN ISNT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME SHE IS JUST A DISTRACTION FOR THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION !!! SHE IS A MOLE !!!!!

I really cant believe I read what I did in this post…The hacker should not do jail time? Seriously? He broke the law, he does not have immunity just b/c of who he is and whose son he is or the fact that ya’ll dont like Bush or Palin. What if he hacked into Obama’s emails…TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY THEN HUH? Wrong is wrong…Yes Bush & Cheney have both done some really awful stuff but so has every other President…just b/c its not in the news everyday DOES NOT MEAN THEY DIDNT DO IT.

C O………Isn’t it amazing how the questions on here always seem to end up with Bush Bashing? Hey, the present administration has done boo-koos of ‘stuff’, however, this is not about them. This is about Sarah Palin and her personal e-mail. And, the “troopergate” crap is just that! Myth ——Sarah Palin fired her Public Safety Commissioner because he would not fire her ‘trooper’ bro-in-law. Fact —- Palin did want Monegan (PSC) to fire her brother-in-law, however, extensive e-mails from Palin and her administration show she was upset because Monegan reportedly defied her instructions on a string of budget cuts. He was offered another job but declined the offer. Fact —- The ‘trooper dooper’ (ex-bro-in-law) should have been fired. Any State Trooper who uses a taser on his personal family and also threatens the life of the rest of the family — should be fired!!! How would you like for this disgusting individual to pull you over on a highway and taser you —without cause? And, how can any self respecting individual not feel that way? Sounds like a big bully masquerading around in a ‘County Mountie’ uniform. As to hacking into e-mails. With all the identity thefts today — and the need to shred everything to protect yourself - all these (and I quote his lawyer) “Decent intelligent young men” should be locked up — shouldn’t be allowed to go near a computer for a LONG period of time - and have their butts kicked in the court rooms! Or maybe just have their computers taken away period.

Lady Gator…I agree b/c my fiance’ is a state Trooper and they dont carry tazers but to use force like that is the last resort. It is a fine line when it comes to patrolling b/c some people don’t understand if a Cop asks you a question they are wanting an answer and the nicer you are w/ that answer the better it will be for you. You not answering that question can be taken as you obstructing justice…its a very fine line. I am not saying that her brother in law Trooper was right w/ what he did b/c there are plenty Cops who abuse their powers and that happens all the time…it really gives the good Cops a bad name in the eyes of many people. I just think its funny how everything…we can be asked a question about the Emmy’s and there is one person who almost always responds with a negative comment about Palin or Bush…its just nuts how every conversation turns political and its always against the GOP.
