Did Sarah Palin Blow Off Oprah?

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Oprah Winfrey would like everyone to know she never wrote Sarah Palin off as a guest on her show.

"I said I would be happy to talk to Sarah Palin when the election was over," Winfrey told Extra. "I went and tried to talk to Sarah Palin and instead she talked to [Fox News’s] Greta Van Susteren. She talked to [NBC’s] Matt Lauer. She talked to [CNN’s] Larry King, but she didn’t talk to me. But maybe she’ll talk to me now that she has a book deal."

It’s true that the Alaska governor has been all over television since John McCain lost the presidential election to Barack Obama. Winfrey caused a bit of a ruckus about the blogosphere in September when she said she wouldn’t have the then-GOP-vice-presidential candidate on her show until after the election.

The talk-show queen announced her stanch support for Obama early on in the White House race. Apparently, having Palin on before the November 4 election would have been considered a slight to Obama in Winfrey’s mind.

"Oprah’s website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama,” an insider told The Drudge Report in September.

Oprah then said in a statement: "At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates."

So we wonder: What will it take to get Palin on the show? We’re thinking that would be one awkward interview …

Perhaps the hockey mom would be willing to make an appearance to tout her forthcoming book, which we’ve heard could be worth about $7 million.

I don’t believe any of what is being reported as it relates to Oprah essentially banning Sarah Palin from her show. No way, I don’t buy it. Oprah has had countless people on her show over the years that have opposing views from hers. And to that point, it seems insulting to assume that because she supported one candidate over another, that she would snub the opponent. That would be pretty juvenile and I just don’t see Oprah being that petty.

Well Belinda, Ms O is not all sweetest and light. She did everything you mentioned and more. And yes she is that petty!

Oh, well then I need to change my opinion based on your statement, because you said so and must know her personally. I think you are really lucky to know her personally, I would kill for that. A lot of women would, even if it meant realizing she is petty as you have seen with your own eyes. Thanks for the inside info.

Why did Oprah have to make a public statement about this? It’s a bit odd. I wonder who the specific source was for this article. It maybe more awkward for Oprah however in some ways she put herself in that position. I will be supporting Gov. Palin by purchasing the book. I recall Obama being on a couple of shows about his book and he was working at the time. If you are going to talk about Alaska then let’s talk about Chicago. So there is no need for the double standard.

But its a huge double standard. Chicago the city and Chicago politics is so freaking dangerous and corrupt that you can’t compare the two cities. If you haven’t been to Alaska I suggest everyone should go. Its an awesome state and place to visit and live actually. Obama didn’t do anything for Chicago the city and the politics either.

I appreciate the desire to sieze the moment however, it appears that the state of Alaska can run itself… so much for “executive experience”. Is this person ever going to go back to Alaska and at least pretend to play Governor ?

It’s because your Obama doesn’t have that “executive experience.” Let’s continue debating on that, Maryyyy.

You know, we are all different and a whole lot of people don’t like Oprah or Sarah Palin. The point is, women, even the young ones today, have problems with other women either out of jealousy, spite, you name it. Whether Oprah has Sarah Palin on her show or not is not going to insult Barack Obama or anyone on his staff. unless they’re woefully are caught up in an emotional juvenile world.. By the way - just how do people advertize their web-sites on WoW? I mean, I’m no Sarah Palin and God knows no one offered me even $7 for my book, but if Wow allows random advertisement, why not at least faeture people who read and are a part of your community?

Good article, read the whole thing at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bob-cesca/sarah-palin-the-new-and-e_b_1482… “Sarah Palin: The New and ‘Explosive’ Leader of the GOP” excerpt: “For instance, apart from her unserious pageant walking and clueless turkey geeking, it’s practically impossible for Sarah Palin, with her far-right ideology and divisive politics, to expand a Republican electorate that’s already suffering from, well, shrinkage. Her appeal is so laser-focused on a rabidly fanboy-ish chunk of the GOP base that many more Americans who would otherwise vote Republican will surely continue to snap to other options. Meanwhile, the Palin base — the fanboys who are “exploding” over Sarah Palin — are a mélange of Bush dead-enders, disgruntled former Bush loyalists who haven’t yet realized that the only difference between Palin and Bush is, well, lipstick, and, of course, way too many disturbingly pervy older men. Outside of this narrow demographic, everyone else thinks she’s more or less an earnest yet embarrassing joke.” “As of right now, we have several contenders for this post. There’s “Sister Sarah” (a nickname I don’t quite understand). There’s the twice divorced former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. There’s Bobby Jindal, the far-right governor of Louisiana. And Tuesday, we learned that Jeb Bush might be running for Senate and thus throwing his gigantic hat into the fight for the future of the party. How screwed are the Republicans right now? Put it this way: the sanest contender in the above list is named “Bush.” Yes, Bush: a name that proved to be even less popular this year than the name “Hussein.” Yet there he is front and center.” “So we have an exorcist, a Bush, a turkey geeker who makes people explode, and Newt, who, by the way, wrote a book imagining if the South had won the Civil War. If these cable reality show misfits represent the future of the Republican Party, it’s going to be a seriously entertaining four years.”
