Dolores Hope, 99, Is Home and 'Fine' After Trip to Hospital
Dolores Hope, the 99-year-old widow of the legendary comedian Bob Hope, is resting at home after spending a few hours in the hospital after her doctor became "concerned about something he saw" during a routine physical, wowOwow has learned from Dolores’s publicist.
Hope was taken by ambulance from her San Fernando Valley home on Tuesday afternoon. Her publicist said to wowOwow.com that she was brought to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, CA, by ambulance under the advice of her doctor. While the gossip website TMZ.com said that they were told Hope suffered a stroke, publicist Harlan Boll told wowOwow that this is "not true."
Boll said that Hope is in good spirits and care. Daughters Linda and Kelly have been visiting her and keeping her company.
"Her family deeply appreciates everyone’s concern," Boll said. "There is absolutely nothing to worry about."
Hope’s health scare comes two days after an auction of her husband’s mementos, which raised more than $600,000 for the Bob and Dolores Hope Foundation. Cufflinks, golf clubs and old photographs were among the nearly 800 keepsakes sold.
Dolores was born May 21, 1909. She was a singer in the 1930s, which is when she met her legendary entertainer husband. They wed in 1934, and remained married for 69 years. They have four adopted children: Eleanora, Anthony, Linda and Kelly.
While Delores is known as a woman of class and dignity, Bob is remembered as one the funniest men in history. He was even charming during his final days. When Dolores asked Bob where would he like to be buried, his response was, "Surprise me."
