Already, the web wags on eBay have not one, but six auctions up, while Gov. Blagojevich is busy with other matters.

As if people weren’t cynical enough about the political process, today the governor of Illinois was hauled off by the Feds for allegedly trying to actually sell President-elect Barack Obama’s now-vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder.

But fear not if you were thinking about making a bid on the nifty Washington job, because there are opportunities galore for you up on auction site eBay.com. Here several helpful souls are making sure the political process continues through *authentic* eBay auctions for the Senate seat.

The lucky auction winner will enjoy a collection of exclusive features, such as:

"Get this and you won’t have to worry about home construction costs ever again …"— Ted S.

" I highly recommend the bathrooms …" —Larry C.

See for yourself on eBay, but act fast before the eBay community squad takes these down!

only in America - I love it! If it didn’t affect us so negatively, it’d be more funny than snide!

Times are bad, if you have to sell it then do it.

I’m originally from Chicago and this doesn’t surprise me. However, all that I heard so far is the gov talked about selling the senate seat. There is no proof that he actually did anything about it and, if this is true, his arrogance cooked his Christmas goose.

What does one expect of the city that gave the US Al Capone and the mob, Mayor Richard Daley of 1960’s, and Charlie Comiskey. The guy is in a long line of crooks fro Chi.

oh please, every major metropolitan area has some levels of corruption - the bigger the city, the bigger it is - having lived in a major city (Boston) working in local government and now in a small town up north, I can tell you it’s a per capita kind of thing…

Al Capone? You’re dating yourself. I’m a lifelong Chicagoan and have to say your comment was kind of silly. Have you ever been to Chicago? It’s a beautiful city with great architecture, world class culture and museums, home of blues and jazz and every imaginable kind of music, probably the best skyline in the country. Natives of Chicago grace the worlds of theater, movies, music, literature, sports; the list goes on. Ever heard of Michael Jordan, Oprah, Sal Bellow, Studs Terkel, Mike Ditka, Carl Sandburg, Ernest Hemingway, Frank Lloyd Wright. Geez, these are just the people I can think of off the top of my head before Al Capone. It’s a colorfully diverse blend of city people who still retain a small town down to earth quality that you do not find on either coasts. That is why a citizen of the world such as Barack Obama would choose to call Chicago home. To top it off, even with a name like Gianna Bracco, I don’t have one relative in the Mob.

Yes I have during the police riot of Mayor Daley’s in the 68—beautiful city indeed—but the politicians suck. Haminway was from Oak Park and I;ve read many Chicago writers like him and Bellow and James Farrell, Terkel, Sandbug et al. Mike Ditka wqs one mean-ass footbvall player for the Bears and I remember Halas too.

Thanks for replying. Admittedly, the city wasn’t at its best at that time (although I’m just a touch too young to have experienced the ‘68 riots.) The city has changed a lot since then, but not the politicians, I’ll grant you that!

Here’s a quote from Anthony Painter a reporter for The Guardian in England—during the last sumer he interviewed many political fugure in Illinois and esp in Chicago and here’s what one told him: “Anthony, you see, what you have to understand is that you Brits have this phrase: All political careers end in failure. Well, in Chicago, all political careers end in prison.” lol
