She voted early. Her vote counts. She lived to see this, and to participate. What an incredible story.

I’m sure she knew what he was capable of accomplishing and urged him to continue.

93% of the French are for Obama and the managing director of the International Herald Tribune says Europe overwhelming wants Obama and will be staying up to watch the election/party. Was very sorry to see about Obama’s grandmother but at least she probably knew the predictions that have called it for Obama, and that he is the Demo candidate. The vote cheating is underway with voter information “lost” all over a Florida highway, etc. And 8 hour Banana Republic-esque voting lines….

Everyone should watch this clip from Rachel Maddow about the long voting lines. She is equating them to a modern version of a Poll Tax. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#27508339

I like Rachel Maddow, but sometimes she can be a real buzz killer. lol One thing I have been hearing though, is that the Obama campaign has been extremely diligent about watching for voter fraud, etc and there will be lots of volunteers out there helping… so maybe it won’t be a mess like we fear.

It’s going to be a long, long night, will poll results dragging on, due to higher-than-usual voter turnout. Several states, of course, will be “projected” as winners by the networks, which will be falling all over themselves to make it look like they have the “results” first. There will be plenty of controversy, too: accusations of ballot tampering and the like.

I am really worried about the networks projecting this thing too early. In Canada they have 4 time zones yet they do not start the count even until the last zone has closed it’s polls. We need to do that too. The last thing we need is a close election merely because the networks project a win and the people on the West Coast decide they don’t need to vote!

That’s an interesting phenomenon, DeB’, whether early projections by the greedy networks help or hurt a given candidate. On the one hand, it can be opined that such projections persuade many people to change their minds and vote for the perceived winner, the thinking being, “Why vote for the inevitable loser?”. On the other hand, as you alluded to, why stand in long lines, waste time, miss dinner, etc., when you think the election is already in the bag. Maddow’s right about South Floridian voters being disenfranchised yet again, as they were in 2000.

How have the Michigan polls been? Here my 2 kids voted on the northside of Chicago today and only waited about 3 mins in line, and in the suburb I live in, there were not lines either… at least not earlier in the day, who knows now. We had a lot of early voters though, I stood in line last Tuesday to vote. The problem with the early projections are 1) it could make the race unnecessarily close, and 2) it could effect the Congressional races. I just wish they would wait till all the votes are in to start making projections.

It’s 7:22P in California and pretty much looks like Obama’s won…..Grant Park looks AMAZING!! When have we ever seen anything like that. Even Bill Clinton’s crowd in Little Rock never was like that. This is truly incredible.

Linda, thank you for volunteering - thank anyone who did. I so admire the dedication of the volunteers in this incredible effort to recover our nation. I could sense the the grief in our president elect’s demeanor when he saw the Biden’s matriarch - bless them all. This has been a rough few days for him. I’m grateful to the Secret Service, too. They work so hard!

93% of the french are for Obama—————————— Well, that just says it all. For that reason alone we should all be voting for McCain.
