Elisabeth Hasselbeck Pregnant With Third Child

Elisabeth Hasselbeck has a baby on the way! "The View" cohost made the big announcement during today’s broadcast and, of course, brought a swift round of applause. The baby, her third with her husband, former football player Tim, will be born in August.

Whoopi Goldberg set Hasselbeck up for the big announcement by teasing the audience with some "breaking news," to which Hasselbeck demured, "It’s maybe not world news." Little does she know, right?

Hasselbeck also joked that she didn’t know she was pregnant and simply thought she was tired from the election and campaigning. Said the 31-year-old, "I didn’t even know for two months. I was walking around … I kept saying, "It’s Election Night, it’s Election Night." I was tired, I was nauseous, I thought I was worn out from the whole procedure. No. I was knocked up and didn’t realize it." Ha! We love it — and we’re so happy for you, Elisabeth.

Now, the big question: Will the latest Hasselbeck have a new Obama with which to play?

Honestly? I am not a Hasselbeck fan on the View. Having said that I surely wish her all the best with the new baby and her whole family.

I don’t agree with Elizabeth’s political views, but I admire her. She fights for what she believes in with passion and commitment. I’m also impressed with the way she appears to have an open mind regarding Obama and how she recognizes and respects the enormity of the election results for the entire country. I think she’s a real person and seems to be a great mom. Congratulations to the entire family.

I totally disagree with her politics, but having a third child is the best thing she can do. My 3rd child is the light of my life and the best thing I ever did.

You should absolutely have a second child — a sibling is a good and healthy thing to have — if for nothing else to learn that you aren’t the center of the universe. Siblings are the first ones you learn to negotiate with. You also can have some good times too. And, frankly, now that I’ve lost my father, no matter how great your friends and/or your spouse/life companion is, there is nothing like having someone with whom you share experiences and memories. My son is 4 years older than my daughter, but when I was not finding it easy to get pregnant again, I told my husband that I wanted to adopt. Like it or not, because we had our children in our mid - late 30’;s, when our children are middle-aged, we will be considerably older. I knew I wanted my kids to have each other to share the burden we might become, to consult with each other and be able to take that job overseas or elsewhere because they wouldn’t feel that they alone were responsible for and needed to be near Mom or Dad. I would have had more had I started any younger.

Lucinda…My sister and I are 1 year and 9 months apart…She is older :) Very close in age and I loved it. I always have someone there, no matter what and vice versa for her. I will drop anything to be with her and she for me. My husbands father was married had 3 daughters, his 1st wife died and he married my husbands mother, she was much younger than he, about 15 years younger…she didnt think she could have kids but out comes my hubby (thank GOD) so he was pretty much an only child b/c his older 1/2 sisters were all in their 20’s when he was born…He liked being an only child but I am glad my parents didnt stop with my sister…I wish they would of had more & they wanted more but couldnt afford it so my Dad got fixed and they lived with 2. I would love to have another one for my daughter b/c I think it would bring her down to earth more but right now financially we just arent able to afford it with the costs of daycare…but maybe one day…We have talked about it.
