Hasselbeck 'Really Upset' With 'The View'

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Rumor has it that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is “really upset” about the recent political discussions taking place on “The View.”

A longtime “View” staff member told The Chicago Sun-Times: ”It’s not as bad as during the Rosie [O’Donnell] era,” but the presidential election has Hasselbeck, a Republican, “really upset” with her liberal co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. The Sun-Times says show creator and journalist Barbara Walters even  called a ”cooling off” meeting to keep a lid on things.

Hasselbeck — the youngest of “The View” women — has her work cut out for her being the only Republican in the group in as hot a political year as this. You could cut the tension with a knife during the Rosie era. Earlier this month, O’Donnell wrote on her blog:

“Sarah p - elisabeth h identical cousins
women who hunt in high heels
gives one pause”

When she appeared on "The Martha Stewart Show" in April, O’Donnell referred to Hasselbeck as "a little Republican who scared me."

The National Enquirer
has reported that Hasselbeck may even leave “The View” to host her own show on FOX News.

"[She] feels she can’t win at ‘The View,’ but she’s been told by friends at FOX News that they’d find a spot for her without hesitation,” a source told the Enquirer. "They love Elisabeth at FOX — she gets high ratings whenever she appears on the network."

You know, I’d have more respect for Elizabeth if she didn’t sound like she got her talking points email from the RNC every morning, and was reading it verbatim. They’ll love her on Fox - another clone.

Elizabeth is young, but I think that Barbara would have a better show if she found another Republican to join Elizabeth on the panel, perhaps an older, more experienced woman. Then it would truly merit being called The View. As much as I like Joy and Whoopi, the panel is heavily weighted toward the Democrats. Barbara may consider herself to be neutral (at least on camera) but she isn’t on enough.

Or better yet to replace Elisabeth, although Elisabeth is certainly the most visable argument I’ve seen against the beliefs she espouses. Her robotic responses suggest a rationalization chip connected directly from programing mechanism to mouth, that works with no time wasted by thought.

A second Republican would certainly help balance the group politically, but do they really want to turn The View into a political show? They could bring in a guest host until the election for balance, but the point of Elizabeth echoing the party line is well taken. They would have to find someone who would not be redundant. I suspect politics was not a part of the prior selection process, it just worked out this way. Another Rep. would be nice, but I’ll be happy if Elizabeth stays. I loved when she took her Wearable Whoopi head dress-shopping. I wish Barbara was on more too.

what i wish to know is how any political party, as the Republicans, is even Legal? in an alleged ‘Democracy’? by definition—-‘a political party established to foster the fiscal interest of certain North-East, North Mid-West areas’. so $$$ over-rides human interest? is $$$-worship any different from worshiping a ‘Golden-Calf’? sure, the Dems need a ‘loyal-opposition’—-so why not ‘The Green Party’? or some truly New Party, not based on ‘fiscal-interest’ alone—-but for All citizens? ‘socialists’, why not—-as i’ve said, money is a ‘social-instrument’—-so what? again, place anyone securely on the moon, some island—-give them the wealth of the world—-w/o People, what worth then matters? Nada. we remain the only major Western power with no ‘left-wing’ component—-small wonder where 95% of capital remains in the hands of 5% of the population—-that is simply a revolutionary fire—-waiting for a spark—-think it can’t happen here? well, ‘Let them eat cake’.

gulliver fourmyle, I most assuredly agree with you on this one! Actually, on most of your posts - . I have said aloud, “The Republican Party ought to be cancelled!” They have become so infiltrated with a bunch of very extreme views. The “neo-cons” really messed up this country big time, with [their] p.Resident pushing all their agenda issues, and doing “signing statements” on most others, as well as SELLING OUT AMERICA! That is precisely why this country is in such a mess, right now!

well, well, well, that’s some darn deal—-THANK YOU!—-i mostly get my butt kicked—-this country has needed a Real 3rd Party too long—-when you consider so many keep thinking this is a ‘Beaver-Cleaver’ 50’s world? ‘Gone with the Wind’—-you may see the trouble we’ve gotten into with either party—-change is long overdo—-as in ‘Major’—-it’s a global market—-we no longer ‘pull-the-strings’—-we’re trying, thanks to D.C.—-that game is over—-nobody seems to ‘get-it’. thanks again—-i try to honestly inform—-stupid?????

The view like this website is someplace we invest our attention to because it makes us: Mad Informed Engaged Talk and best of all - well rounded if we get to (or choose to) hear all the opinions. The deal for me is that i want everyone at the table-i don’t always agree with myself let alone conservative viewpoints…but i learn from it and i cherish the fact that it is possible. I find it distasteful that we have to destroy someone in order to have a discussion. Elizabeth is someone who has strength, integrity and character. Period. I suspect the premise of the ‘vew’ is that - everyone gets a view.

Cynthia, That was very nicely put. Thank you.

The big difference is, though, that I don’t have to read posts here from folks that I know will just infuriate me. I have no choice with The View.

Buh- Bye
I agree Lorraine, for years I have thought that she got her talking points text messaged every morning. But now, so do all the Dem co-hosts. So it’s a level playing field. I could never stand Hasselbeck before this election because of her rigid political views. But I hate to say - I often agree with her now. HOW CAN THAT BE?!!! I barely watch the show now at all. It does annoy me that Whoopi often barges in on someone else’s sentence with a pronouncement of ‘how things are’ like she is the final word on the subject and the true authority on all things political. H-Beck would fit in on Fox though. I will not start watching Fox however. Never, ever, ever, ever!!!! (Although I did read Peggy Noonan’s column without gagging today) — what is happening?!!!!

I have to agree with you. I don’t think she would say anything negative about either Gov. Palin or Sen. McCain. She will defend them to the bitter end. I wonder what she would say if Gov. Palin is found guilty of using her influence to have her brother-in-law dismissed from his job.

She’s always been the only rep on the View, so why is it such an issue with her now? Could it be because she knows everything Joy and Whoopi say is true and she has nothing to defend McSame and Pain with? I think she should most certainly go to Fox. Then I can TiVo the View and enjoy it again.

If I were Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s friend/advisor I’d tell her to stick to the fashion and design end of the entertainment industry and not jump to FOX. She was enjoyable to watch on the show “The Look for Less” and needs to shake off the argumentative angle she’s been cultivating. Once upon a time she was fun to watch. That said I think that all of the ladies on The View would be best served by delivering the goods that they are known for and putting an end to the daily dose of biased political commentary. What was once an enjoyable show has spiraled into little more than a mess of endless yente noise. I never liked Elisabeth’s style of debate or argument and rarely agree with her message BUT whenever I have tuned in recently I find myself actually feeling bad for her because Joy and Whoopie often shut her down before she can state what her point is. Those bright and funny ladies should display a bit more generosity and tolerance for their colleague and let Elisabeth’s point stand or fall on its own merits. If Joy and Whoopie had their way there’d be no discussion on many points, just a dose of their own wit and wisdom - “shut up, I’m right and nobody had better disagree!” What a killjoy attitude from two smart and highly talented entertainers. I find The View to be mostly unwatchable and approaching a point of no return.
