Ellen DeGeneres Named the 'Quintessential CoverGirl'
Ellen DeGeneres, who is not exactly known for her classic beauty but more for her sexual orientation and charm, was named the newest model for CoverGirl Cosmetics.
The beauty giant, owned by Procter & Gamble, described DeGeneres, 50, who recently wed longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi, as the "quintessential CoverGirl."
"She is smart, confident, natural and beautiful from the inside out," said Esi Eggleston Bracey, P&G’s vice president, in a statement.
CoverGirl confirmed yesterday that the brand is partnering with the Emmy Award-winning talk-show queen in ads that will appear in January 2009. On Tuesday, DeGeneres shared the news with her audience on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." As she made the announcement, she striked exaggerated modeling poses and explained, reports People, "That’s the first thing they teach you when you’re a CoverGirl."
DeGeneres’s role follows the likes of many successful models. Glamorous stars including Drew Barrymore, Molly Sims, Christie Brinkley and Tyra Banks have modeled for CoverGirl.
