Thank you for posting this! Ahh, still SO mad at myself for forgetting to DVR the Emmys and missing the Laugh-In sketch. But this footage pretty much compensates for that! “Oh my GOD was Lily Tomlin there?!” - LOL at Ernestine’s expression. She does not like Lily much, eh? I always thought Ernestine looked freakishly like Joan Crawford, how funny she said she patterned herself after her. Letterman and Ernestine. That’s an…interesting image… Ernestine, please come visit my house! You can leave your imprint on my phone; I’m one of the few left who has one, it seems. Oh yes, we even have phone books - I keep one in my car at all times because I’m not paying my cell phone company every time I get lost and need to dial 411. I must add that all those “brainy women” are on this site because such brainy bloggers/editors attract and engage them in such conversation. ;-)

Ernestine! Thanks for the chuckles, and the intriguing insight into your career as a molder of political strategists. Must be all the reading the phone book. It gives you ideas. I loved seeing you on the Emmys and really love this behind the scenes tour. I am going to go get a manicure right away, I promise!

Oh, that was really fun, hysterical and riveting. Love Ernestine and she hasn’t aged at all! Love the hair, make-up, outfit. Indeed, was comforting to have the little table for the phone and the Yellow Pages stashed in its own slot. Everything neat and precise. Now an emerging new crisis every hour accompanied by Jaws music and full gore graphics. Think I go read the plumbing ads, now. lol Thanks!

Lovely to see Ernestine again… She is, after all, the first lady of - well, of everything! Love you too, Lily!

Too Funny! I wish Edith Ann would have been there too. But I guess the show aired past her bedtime. Thanks for the laughs!

Ernestine- one of the few constants in this crazy mixed up world! Whew! Am I glad you know what’s really going on, because we sure need you! Any time you want to give me a call, I’ll answer on the first ringy-dingey!

I love that tongue, curling around in that tight little mouth of yours. Your skits of Ernestine in days of yore were some of my favorites––so funny, so clever. We don’t have shows like the old comedy ones anymore––and I wonder why. Our humor now seems edgy and political which is good, but I’m thinking that what we need at this time is a lot more of Ernestine’s ringy-dingies. Thanks for the video––thanks for the memories.

Oh, Ernestine. If you ever play I.U. I’ll get a manicure and we’ll do lunch!

Serena .
Dear Ernestine, Thanks so much for posting your “going to the Emmy’s” video diary. I agree, you don’t need no stinking name tag! Why, you are a household name! You’re a star for heaven’s sake! You practically trained all of those newbies! Who do they think they are!? Giving you a name tag. Hmmphh Oh well. Kids these days! Tell Lily I said “hello” and I’ll see her in Atlanta—I hope. And BTW, Ernestine you get cuter every year girlfriend!

She does look gorgeous in that photo. Her and Dolly both look great. I can’t wait to see that musical of 9 to 5.
