Escape From Your Troubles: When in Manhattan

Mitchell Feinberg

As "Gypsy"

Tom Ford is creating a successful club on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. He calls it a shop, but the sofas are deep and plush with great looking guys sipping delicious things and the bar is golden and snakey and so attractive that you like to stand around it drinking your espresso.

It’s the kind of club that a woman can enjoy, because the shelves are filled with bisexual silk and cashmere tee shirts and sweaters that you just want to pat and purr — and the salesmen seem to have had upper crust waiter training. They are so nice. You just know they don’t care if you drip coffee or bump into the gorgeous stacks of cologne and they certainly don’t care if, after opening all the drawers, you don’t buy anything.

It’s your home, too, they seem to say with a brotherly smile. I don’t know what it is about Tom Ford — it would show up in his DNA if he had one of those million dollar tests — he knows how to put you in the mood for him and his stuff.

Go and see. You don’t have to buy the beautiful things. They just want you to come in and enjoy the good life. And you’ll get very fine ideas for a smart apartment.

Wow no pun intended! You say that it’s the kind of club that women can enjoy … I’m glad I found this “CLUB”. A place where I can express myself with other women, if I knock something over there won’t be a salesman it will be me to clean it up ( ha ha ha ). Your shelves will be filled with wonderful conversations, amazing topics and beautiful women everywhere. I know this isn’t NYC where I now live but this site is the next best thing!!! :)

I am going to Manhattan in July to attend a wedding and I need some advice. They are requesting cocktail attire…so what should I wear? A knee length dress? Are slacks not acceptable? What about my husband? Should he wear a suit or would a coat and shirt suffice? HELP! {:-)

Hey Carol here’s a few ideas for you and your daughter’s experience in NYC … take a look at www.citysearch.com you can certainly see great places to eat and even places to shop. I’d tell you to go to Macy’s maybe even 5th Avenue if you have the money. What I love and miss are all the “sample sales” in NYC. Go to 34th street and herald square (broadway) and check out H&M, Go to Anthropologie 375 West Broadway between Spring and Broome then check out some other great stores there in Soho. Stop by Dean & Deluca MY FAVORITE STORE grab something to munch on and enjoy the BEST CITY NYC!!! My last advice would be take the subway or bus never take a cab. Too expensive and if it’s raining you won’t get a cab at all! When it’s all said and done head over to the Village and enjoy Rocco’s bakery … Oh my gawd my mouth is watering LOL

Oh and Carol here’s a GREAT place to visit … I miss it considering my friends work there at with the MTA Police. Head over to GCT ( Grand Central Terminal ) go to the main concourse where the clock is stand still and look up. It is by far Amazing! I’m sure Leslie Stahl can tell you about this place. I met her once a long time ago while watching the crew set up. For the time we both said hello I’ve carried that moment with me … of course I called my Mother after we met LOL
