The One-Click Face Lift

Considering a face lift? Lip augmentation? Nose job? Before you plunk down the dollars, a new website called Lift Magic can help you decide by showing you your picture transformed by one of 14 different cosmetic surgery procedures.

Billing itself “the world’s most advanced face-lift visualization studio,” Lift Magic works when you upload to the site a full-face digital photograph of yourself. Then, you can click on one or more surgery selections such as “cheek lift,” “outer lip lift,” “weight reduction.” Select the “show result” button and voila! It’s you. Only better. Or, different, anyhow.

Lift Magic is owned by Modiface, which is the brainchild of Dr. Parham Aarabi and Alireza Rabi. Working at Stanford University, Dr. Aarabi initiated research on automatic face analysis. In 2004, the duo started on plastic-surgery visualization, giving birth to Modiface in 2006.

What lengths have Candice Bergen and Liz Smith gone to for the sake of beauty? Click here to find out.

How about this for a face lift: Smile at someone who needs a bit of cheer. Smile as much as possible without concerning the authorities or compromising your principles. I hear it is even good for you.

Little Fefe ~ There is nothing wrong with being too idealistic. It is just your dreams sparkling.
I know comestic surgery and all it stands for shouldn’t bother me by now… when we live in a society that openly advocates selling “magic miracle wrinkle removing” creams to women in their late teens and 20s. We have time and money to augment our faces when other parts of the world are starving and have no decent standard of living. I’d rather take the thousands of dollars it costs for these procedures and donate it to my favourite charities or put it toward making a REAL difference in the world other than just MY outward appearance.

Elizabeth: have you seen this article in the NY Time on the Justice Dept’s Inspector General’s report? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/25/washington/24cnd-justice.html?hp

And Frank, I found this comment interesting. It was posted on the Charlie Rose site after the Scalia interview. “Justice Scalia’s son got a job in the Bush Administration. Chief Justice Rhenquist’s daughter got a job in the Bush Administration and Justice Thomas wife was working for the Bush campaign” Scalia goes duck hunting with Cheney. Conflict of interest on Bush v Gore??? He didn’t recuse himself. http://www.charlierose.com/shows/2008/06/20/1/a-conversation-with-justic…

I did see it and it did not surprise me, which is depressing enough to make it hard to smile. There was some testimony by a young female Justice Department employee last year where she said they used political qualifications for candidates for basic civil service jobs. Now let us see if anything changes.

Elizabeth; One can only hope so—I’ve followed Justice or the last year or so and frankly what’s happened there is disheartening; talk about stacking the deck—-one can only hoe the the IG’s report will do some good and will reverse this trend.

Peg O my heart
Ahhh, wonderful Elizabeth. I love the “without concerning authorities” bits!! God knows what a toothy grin may elicit these days. Keep smiling! You are right, a smile is the best facial pick me up known to (wo)man - and it’s free!!!

Elizabeth That is my favorite. Smiling really helps. It is the best face lift.
