Fey: 'I'm Done' if McCain-Palin Wins the White House

Tina Fey says she will be "leaving Earth" if John McCain and Sarah Palin win the presidential election next month.

The "Saturday Night Live" comedienne who now produces and stars in "30 Rock," has come back to her alma mater to play the Republican vice-presidential candidate. She wouldn’t give specifics as to how many more episodes of "SNL" she was going to appear on.

"We’re gonna take it week by week. If she wins, I’m done. I can’t do that for four years. And by ‘I’m done,’ I mean I’m leaving Earth,’" Fey told TVGuide for the October 20 issue.

Fey also said it’s a busy but exciting time for "SNL."

"Election time is always good for [‘SNL’] and this is a bonkers election," she said. "And that lady [Palin] is a media star. She is a fascinating person, she’s very likeable. She’s fun to play, and the two bits with Amy [Poehler], that was super fun," Fey says.

Meanwhile, The New York Post reports that some political scientists think that Fey’s "SNL" skewering of Palin is taking its toll on the McCain/Palin ticket.

"Presidential impersonators do influence elections, and in this one, Tina Fey is well on her way to ruining Sarah Palin’s political career," said Jerald Podair, a professor of American Studies at Lawrence University. "In a political culture that takes its cues from popular culture, a good impersonator may be worth a million votes."

Tinay Fey has a LOT of people on her side, and a LOT of admiration for her saying it out loud. Sarah Palin/McHoover are an extension of the Nightmare on Main Street. Bush polices have rewarded crooked banks and hedge funders and are literally killing good Americans. People are losing everything and suicides are way up.

If this is true i would to be afraid also…. who do you think would continue to implament the bush doctrines, Obama or McSame? Think about it carefully.

Yep, Bush can declare martial law. In May 2007, Bush issued a major presidential National Security Directive (National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive NSPD 51/HSPD 20), which would suspend constitutional government and instate broad dictatorial powers under martial law in the case of a “Catastrophic Emergency” [note: the nature of a “catastrophic emergency is undefined and left to the president’s discretion; clearly it could be either an outside attack or a natural disaster. NSPD 51 grants unprecedented powers to the Presidency and the Department of Homeland Security, overriding the foundations of Constitutional government. It allows the sitting president to declare a “national emergency” without Congressional approval. The implementation of NSPD 51 would lead to the de facto closing down of the Legislature and the militarization of justice and law enforcement. Basically he can call a rice shortage a national emergency and suspend elections, declare martial law and all types of insanity. Basically he could do the same thing the dictator in Pakistan did (whom he called our great friend and sent OUR troops to support him). I don’t think he’ll do it, but he now has the authority. Add to the above, the National Defense Authorization Act, sponsored by John Warner, that passed in ‘07, where our military may now be used within the US, whereas before, only National Guard was authorized within the borders. Now take note of this—and I am still searching for it in my files: perhaps 3 Saturdays ago, it was announced that the FBI had been given more powers. The FBI is hiring people within the US to ‘spy’ on US Citizens—and they do not even need a reason to do so—undercover type spying….when I find it, I will post it. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070509-12.html

Ever since I can remember, there have been impersonators of Presidents, and other influential people….the Ed Sullivan show even offered them for entertainment purposes! I just cannot believe that Tina Fey could be ‘the reason’ that people won;t vote the McCain/Pailin ticket, simply because she impersonates Palin—-which, IMO, Tina Fey is outstanding! I suppose that what is really irritating to those who want to go after Fey, is that impersonations AMPLIFY. Not so appealing if what is uncovered thru the amplification, turns out to be embarrasing—-but hey—-truth often isn’t popular if you are the one trying to micro-manage its’ perception, and it backfires. Truth hurts, at times. What seems to working my nerve, of late, is that there is more conversation about Palins’ ‘celebrity career’ after the election. Yes, I will be ecstatic if the McCain/Palin ticket fails to win the election—-but why should Palin be ‘rewarded’ for her attempts at inciting the country to divide itself along racial lines, and for her attempts to stir up such remarks as ‘terrorist’, and ‘kill him’, when she speaks? WHY should she be given a talk show? Yesterday, I read that her future son-in-law, although told not to speak to the press, did so anyhow. He dropped out of high school, got himself a job, and plans to marry Palins’ daughter after the baby is born….and he said of McCain/Palin “she’d better win!”. What kind of policy is this? Where dropping out of school is now shoved in front of our faces as a desirable solution, to support a child born out of wedlock?!

Sarah Palin sent my husband a letter! A girl (or me) can’t even go to her mail box these days without finding a letter from some woman looking to sweet talk her husband into giving up his hard earned money. There is was – a letter to my husband from Sarah Palin. Would Ms. Palin had crossed out his name if she saw the liberal thinking magazines that filled the mail box? Or would she have hand delivered the letter while I was at an Obama rally? Now, really, Ms. Palin. I never said you could darkened my doorway. I felt icky. It’s a new political term for I would rather die then for my mailman to think I would allow this sort of propaganda in my home. Okay, earth to elizabeth. My husband is the R word and that is why he received it. But it still hurts. A few notes to Ms. Palin: You missed a great opportunity by just addressing the letter to Dear Friend. How about “Mavericks for Merlot?” Or “Pit Bulls of America – stand up and bite the butt of any freedom loving person?” In comedy, things come in three, so here goes: “I got my heels on, a gun in my bra and I ain’t afraid to use either.” That’s how you get people to contribute to your cause. Stick with me…. So I have a fearful and pessimistic mentality? No, I don’t. You and McCain do scare the crap out of me, but when I am not thinking about losing some very important freedoms, I am optimistic and a believer in our future. Not yours, but President Obama’s future. And ours. “Live their lives as they see fit.” I nearly threw up in my mouth when I came across those words in your letter. I am wearing protective gloves. Thanks for asking. Oh, so after you try to take away a woman’s right to choose and outlaw the freedom of expression on library shelves, then we can live our lives as we see fit? I particularly liked the line, “ We must stop the Obama-Biden Democrats from taking total control of our government” Well, it will be nice to see some of that happen since the sitting president spent more time fantasizing about a dude ranch on Pluto then on the issues. But then you write in the next line, “We must have the resources to maintain control of the White House.” You just want the building or the government? You know, the White House has to be painted every few years and I don’t think you’ll make it up those ladders with those heels on. “Our party is gaining momentum.” Pray tell, where are you getting your information? And finally, Ms Palin writes (in lipstick), “Please let me hear from you today.” I think I just did that.

Amazing! Elizabeth, I luv your humor. As far as ‘maintaining control of the White House’, I get a bit sick to my stomach when I discover ‘laws’ that are being passed under the radar—-like the one below, that I just found in my files: New guidelines expand FBI’s surveillance powers Washington Post Oct. 3, 2008, 11:04PM WASHINGTON — Justice Department officials released new guidelines Friday that empower FBI agents to use intrusive techniques to gather intelligence within the United States, alarming civil liberties groups and Democratic lawmakers who worry that they invite privacy violations and other abuses. The new road map allows investigators to recruit informants, employ physical surveillance and conduct interviews in which agents disguise their identities in an effort to assess national security threats. FBI agents could pursue each of those steps without any single fact indicating a person has ties to a terrorist organization. Attorney General Michael Mukasey said Friday the guidelines are necessary to fulfill the FBI’s core mission to predict threats and respond even before an attack takes place. The guidelines take effect Dec. 1. The American Civil Liberties Union immediately condemned the road map. Critics had asked Justice Department leaders to wait until a new president takes office, an approach that administration officials rejected.

With racism, sexism, ageism, religious extremism, lies, distortions, political prejudice, fraud, and dirty tricks all affecting the presidential race, is comedy really such an unwelcome visitor?

No one except the wonderful Ms. Fey ever came remotely close to Fanny Flagg’s magnificent Lady Bird Johnson. “Look to you-ah raight. Look to you-ah leuft. Do you see a thang of beau-ty? Do you see a thang that is pleasant to the eye? ….” It’s a toss up. Sheer genius in both cases. I still believe Gov. Palin is doing a pale imitation of Ms. Fey, not the other way around.

Patty, I have been writing, and telephoning my congress people for the past 3-5 years relating this kind of information, and have yet to see any real steps to prevent this from taking place. It will most certainly come down to the uprising of the American People, if nothing is done to prevent it. This is precisely why elections are so important. Except now, we cannot be certain who is the lesser of two evils, I suppose. Ultimately, I have to simply trust that We the People will do whatever is needed to keep OUR country! A little trust in a higher power helps along the way.
