Georgia on Sarah Palin's Mind

Sarah Palin was back on the stump Monday, campaigning for Georgia incumbent Sen. Saxby Chambliss – a Republican who is in the fight of his life to keep his seat.

Chambliss is hoping Palin’s star power can get him some votes.

“The eyes of the nation are on you, Georgia. And the eyes of the nation are on what happens here tomorrow, what direction our country will go. Much depends on the vote that is taken here in Georgia,” Palin told a crowd Monday morning.

She also gave a shout out to her former running mate, McCain, who has campaigned for Chambliss as well, since his presidential loss to Barack Obama.

“It was just like Sen. McCain to put defeat behind him and see what more he can do for the United States Senate and to see what more he can do to progress this great nation,” the Alaska governor said, noting that more than two million Georgians voted for McCain-Palin in the White House race.

“We were honored to carry the state of Georiga. Thank you. So now we need you to do it again, Georgia."

Martin is scheduled to campaign in Georgia Monday with prominent Georgia Democrats but the end of his day will feature a unique guest: Atlanta rapper Ludacris.

Chambliss is pulling out the big guns – Palin, John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, and others – in his fight to defeat Democratic opponent Jim Martin in this runoff election. Georgia is a vital race for the Democrats to win. If they wrest Georgia and Minnesota from Republicans, Democrats will have the supermajority in the Senate – the 60 seats needed to overcome a filibuster. Georgia’s runoff election is Tuesday.

In Minnesota, incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman is battling Democratic comedian Al Franken for the spot.

Meanwhile, Politico.com reports that although many have pondered a "Palin in 2008" presidential run, public polling shows that declining support for the hockey mom from the political center may threaten her White House ambitions.

"It would be a mistake to say that social conservatives have all their hopes and dreams vested in Sarah Palin," said Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission President Richard Land. But he acknowledged that Palin is a star with conservatives, and she "does have the one thing you can’t coach, charisma."

You should read the majority of posts in here, this sort of ignorance isn’t in keeping with the website.

I voted for Obama because I believed he was the best person for the job. Not because of any “anti” woman nonsense. You will find mostly opinionated, intelligent women in here who will give your opinion a run for it’s money. But the vast majority will not stoop to calling you a “bitch” or childish name mocking like “DeVulgar”. We don’t stoop to it because we don’t have to. You will find that your opinions will get more respect when you don’t have to fill in a lack of substance with name calling.

DeBurca: I don’t even know what the word feminist means. I don’t care. You and many other ladies have torn Palin to bits for no resason at all. I’ve been called an idiot, moron, stupid, bigot and more for expressing the same opinions I’ve given to you. I’m glad you were honest about why you voted for Obama. You “believe” he is the right person for the job. These people on election day believed the same thing. http://howobamagotelected.com/

I don’t think I have ever written the word “feminist”. And YES I BELIEVE his the best person for the job, and that belief is based upon informing myself.

BeBurca: From the information you acquired, would you please give three specific examples what they are? here is your comment from the previous page. The word feminist is mentioned. Supporting a woman just because she is a woman isn’t “feminist”. By DeBúrca obj on 12/02/2008 11:01 am Page 1

I have been posting in here for months, since the Primary, and have given many, many reasons for my support of Barack Obama. If you want to read them go for it, I’m not going to continue giving my many reasons why I voted for the man, the election is over and he is about to be sworn in as our new president. I also voted for him to be my Senator. Also, I forgot the “supporting a woman just because she is a woman isn’t ‘feminist’. But it’s true. Supporting a woman JUST because she is a woman is not “feminist” nor is it smart, nor is it in any way promoting women in politics. Putting an under qualified, under educated, anti-choice, non-global warming believing, neocon into office who happens to be a woman, isn’t pro-woman. Having the female version of George W. Bush in office will do nothing for women in politics, nor would it do anything for women in their everyday lives.

Thank you so much for your reply to my comments. It is ashamed that you are wrong as far as I’m concerned. Sarah is not my advocate. I believe in woman’s right to choose and even though I am a Christian I do not take the Bible literally. I’m not saying that Sarah should be burned at the stake. I’m sure she’s a great person. She is actually a good governor or so the polls indicate. Heck, as I stated before, she’s probably great to have a beer and go bowling with. You have to admit the Sarah that came out over the past few months did not show something other than she is. Just a regular ol’ hockey mom who has strong beliefs that are not exactly the beliefs that the majority of Americans share. She is not vice president material or anything other than what she is already. Yes, everyone wants to interview her. On that point you were right. The reason being is that she didn’t have that many interviews during the campaigns. Why? Maybe because she always messed up somehow. Heck, she’s always good for a laugh. Look at the ratings SNL had when she was on. Even when she wasn’t on the show, the comedy teams had her pegged. The writer’s didn’t even have to come up with material, the comic would just repeat what Sarah had said, and it would bring the house down. Sarah needs to stay in Alaska where she is safe and people love her. The national stage is not for her. She’s just not equipped to handle the national media. So though I think she’s a good person, please don’t call her my advocate. That she’s not. I have never disagreed with a person’s beliefs as much as I do Palin. Sarah and I are like night and day. I will never get used to her. As far as the media being mean to Sarah and making her look like an idiot, it’s simply not true. She does a good job doing that herself and just being unlucky enough to be caught on camera. Again I would like to thank you for your comments. It’s nice to know that people actually read what I write.

Joan, Joan, Joan: Sarah Palin be an would advocate for womens rights, even someone like you. You and so many others have burned her at the stake already. You never gave her a chance. You want to have a beer with her, then laugh at her at the same time. Grow up. You wouldn’t know VP material if it slapped you in the face. The national media is enthralled with Obama. You really never learned anything about the real Obama. It was all kept from you. Here are some of your comrades on election day. http://howobamagotelected.com/ You have it backwards, Sarah Palin made the media look like fools. A VP nominee, all they can do is ask her about newspapers, lame. You said Palin and you are like night and day. Name three issues you and her disagree on. Don’t lie, don’t make them up.

Oh Joan, you can’t just admit the fact that a charming, svelte, good-looking, successful lady governor, mother, and wife from an obscure state had more political opportunities than YOUR kind (see your picture or look at yourself in the mirror). You are a just a blabber-mouth like that tube blob Rossie O’Donnel. Shape up (and I mean that literally) or shut up!

Thank you so much for your commet. Again I love it when people read what I write and feel strongly enough to answer me. I do feel that there is no need to attack as you did. I don’t know “WHAT MY KIND” is. I’m a mother of 4 and grandmother of 10. I am a democrat through and through. I believe in Obama and the democratic party. I help everyone I can and I never met a stranger I didn’t like. I’m happy in my skin and my family loves me. I may not be a mayor or governor and I don’t pretend to be. I KNOW that I’m not qualified to run for office especially for vice president. I work for my party in a way that I know that I can and to be the best help possible. Wasn’t it Palin’s party that HID her from cameras and gagged her from speaking to the media? Isn’t her OWN party saying that she just was not ready and maybe the reason McCain lost? Dang, the woman gives an interview at a turkey farm and stands in front of turkey’s being beheaded. I’m smart enough not to do that! I also know about Africia and that you can’t see Russia from a yard in Alaska. I’m not the one that was running for vice president and standing on the stage winking at every chance I had and talking like a 10 year old. As for me, I want a vice president that speaks and looks presidental. She’s good at what she does and I don’t feel like she can become more that. Actuallly, if I lived in Alaska, I don’t think she would have gotten my vote for either mayor or governor, because our beliefs are far too diffrent. As far as being compared to Rosie, THANKS!! I just love her! She is one of my favorites. I also love Whoopi, Barbara, Joy and Sherri from the view. I also adore Ellen. H. Clinton is one of my heros. Wonder if we are all blabber mouths. I thought this site was for just that. A place where you can speak your mind and be part of a community. Oh and by the way, why isn’t your picture up for all to view? Could it be you might be skinny but have a big nose?? Love to all my friends at wowOwow.
