Governor Sarah Palin, 44, Named McCain's Running Mate

By The Staff at wowOwow.com
Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska
AP

Twenty-four years after Walter Mondale selected Geraldine Ferraro as his vice-presidential running mate, and less than 24 hours after the historic nomination of the first African American candidate to lead a major party ticket for president, more history is being made today as John McCain — in a surprise move — selects Sarah Palin as his running mate on the Republican ticket.

This dramatic announcement makes Sarah Palin the first woman in history to run as vice president on the Republican side and only the second woman to take the veep spot on a major party ticket.

Palin, 44, is a mother of both a son in the military and a young child with Down’s Syndrome as well as three other children. She is pro-life and a member of the group Feminists for Life. She is a sportswoman who owns a gun. She staged an upset victory in the Alaskan Republican primary by running a clean government campaign against the incumbent Republican governor, Frank Murkowski. She is against gay marriage, yet vetoed a bill that would have barred Alaska from granting benefits to the partners of gay state employees.

I read that Sarah Palin could not say she wanted the job until she found out just what a VP does, that tells me all I need to know about this choice.

To be honest, any smart job seeker asks the question, “What does the job entail?” Unfortunately, the position has been so distorted by its current occupant that she was smart to do so.

Corinne………. The questions should have been about the qualifications to be President. When you take the roll of VP…….It’s a President in waiting.

vinrosie1, Watch the sexist remarks, because they won’t get too far this time.

How does asking a pertinent question about qualifications become sexist?

Frank You are right, asking a question has nothing to do with sexism……….. There’s been a lot of accusing fingers pointed today with no justification.

Isn’t it amazing, Marjorie that no one has asked what Obama’s qualifications are? As Hillary Clinton put it, “John McCain has a lifetime of experience that he brings to the White House and Senator Obama has a speech that he gave in 2002!” Sarah Palin may have only 20 mo. of experience but she did more in that executive capacity than Obama has done in 142 days in the Senate. Also, if you examine Obama’s performance in Ill, it is not impressive at all. “The best predictor of future performance is past performance.” Again I ask, what are Obama’s qualifications….I KNOW Sarah Palin’s!

Well, anyone in government knows what the job description of the Vice President is. It’s in the US Constitution.

Hey Mugsy, I’ll bet she’s never read the constitution. From some of the things I’ve been reading about her She’s probably right where she belongs……….. If there are enough foolish people in this Country to vote McCain in office (as they did Bush) They deserve what they get, unfortunatly they take the rest of us down with them. My daily prayer is God don’t let McCain win……………..
