All my life, I always wanted to be somebody. Now I see that I should have been more specific. ~ Jane Wagner Little did Gideon Morris know when he stood and gazed across that expanse of Tennessee soil, that came to bear his name, that a multifaceted, incredibly cute, blindingly bright, miracle of a girl, would spring from loins of the city, called Morristown. Painter, sculptor, pianist, actress, textile designer, oh who can forget those fabulous “Teach Me, Read Me” bed sheets?! The incomparable Wagner, Jane, Director, Creative Consultant, Executive Producer and Writer of books, movies, plays, and teleplays casts an unmatched shadow of starlight, dancing wide and strong, Along the way, tossed her way have been awards, aplenty: The “Annie” award; The Writer’s Guild Award; Six Emmy nominations, Three Emmys; New York Drama Critics’ Circle Special Award; Two Peabody Awards; a New York Drama Desk Award; Cable Ace Award; San Francisco International Film Festival; Three Grammy nominations and Two Sundance Film Festival Awards. Ms. Wagner has cut her own magical, mystical life path, along with her life partner, the lovely lilting Lily Tomlin. They have blessed us with their genius. They have graced us with their prescence and they have made us laugh and cry til our souls filled and our sides split. Jane Wagner along with Lily Tomlin, Allee Willis, and BUBBLES the artist produced the wondermous delight known as the Lily Tomlin website: Jane and Lily, these magical women and their careers in art, text, photos and videos can be accessed here just follow the spaceship!

For some reason that link doesn’t seem to work. Let me try again: just follow the spaceship!

Ms. Wagner:  Last night Mugsy and I were discussing how since our mother passed, we hadn’t been the same people with anyone else we were with her.  This launched an extraordinary discussion about how we are actually different people with various folks.  I must say that without your writing and your inspiration, Mugsy would never have become who she is today.  And I, for one, thank you for that.  Since today is your birthday, may I wish you all best in the coming years?  And please please please write more.  From my heart, Fanny Peabody

Dear Fanny,

That is such an interesting idea about who we are with certain people.  It explains the dynamic between me and my little brother.  He passed away in 1989.  For 27 years we had a connection I would compare to that of twins.  We laughed all the time and were very creative together.  I still look for people who bring light that spark in me, but I don’t find it.   It was nice to read your description and know that others feel the same way.
