Hasselbeck Has 'Bone to Pick' Over No Invite to White House Christmas Party (Videos)

We want to go to the White House Christmas party. Maybe if we complain about not getting our invite, the right people will hear.
That’s what happened with “The View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She said on the show Tuesday that she was "miffed" and and had a “bone to pick” – that she didn’t get her annual invite to the DC soiree.
“Every year, I wait by the mail … I love Christmas cards,” she said.
“For the past few years, we get an invite to the White House Christmas party – not the big one but the 20th one down the road, where you get the leftovers from the party. I’ve been going to that one. No invitation to that one.”
She added: “Maybe I didn’t do enough for the Republican Party this year.” (Although we doubt that. She even campaigned with Sarah Palin for a bit toward the end of the race.)
Well, Hasselbeck got what she wanted. She soon received an apology and party invitation from the White House.
"Following today’s live show, Elisabeth received a call from the White House, and they both had a great conversation," Karl T. Nilsson, the executive publicity director of “The View,” told USmagazine. “The president’s office apologized and explained that she and her husband were indeed invited to the White House for Christmas and were sorry that it did not arrive. It was simply an oversight."
Even though Hasselbeck was a McCain supporter who once said Barack Obama almost – but not quite – won her over, she was staunch in her support for the GOP candidate. But the past is in the past, it’s a new year.
"Both Elisabeth and Tim are hoping to make plans for a visit to the White House in the early New Year," Nilsson told Us.
Speaking of having a bone to pick – singer Melissa Etheridge stopped by "The View" Tuesday, and challenged Hasselbeck about California’s Prop 8, the measure that passed in November banning gay marriage.
Etheridge, who is gay, also has twin two-year-olds.
“To see human rights actually be up for a vote with Proposition 8 and to have people vote to take away rights, to me, at the core is very un-American,” Etheridge told the co-hosts talking about her disappointment over Prop 8.
OK, conversation going very smoothly now.
But then Etheridge singled out Hasselbeck, saying she “misleaded” people when she talked about a Swedish priest who was jailed. Hasselbeck eloquently shot back saying the rights of the people should be upheld – regardless of what the issue is. But Etheridge says the issue is about equal protection for minorities.
Watch the second video below. The first video is of Hasselbeck blowing off steam about the Christmas party invite.
