Text of Whoopi’s comments:

Oh my goodness. So it was brought to my attention that wOw had a happy birthday greeting for me, and all the responses were so cool. So great. You guys, the folks that posted for me and said all those wonderful things about feeling like they were connected because they heard something that made sense to them, or they felt like they were hearing people they cared about talking to them, and hearing the voices of the past, and all of those things kind of threw me for a loop because I’m just sort of here scratching my butt and hoping to help the world somehow. And the fact that you all sent such loving wishes and said such beautiful things, so many of them, I can’t even begin to tell you how great it was that you even cared it was my birthday. I can’t even say, "Thank you." But I’m gonna. That’s why I called in, was to say, "Thank you." I can’t even begin to tell you how it all made me feel. It made me feel like I was the person that my mom hoped that I would grow up to be. Someone who’s a little kooky and a little weird but maybe has something to offer. And what I get from all of you is that you may not agree always but you don’t mind that I have opinions or that I believe in something or that I am the person that I am. Who doesn’t want to be told that they’re OK in the world? And to get such a gorgeous response from you all, it was heaven. It made me very proud and it made my mom really proud because, of course, I told her to read it as well. And she did the mom thing and said, "Don’t let your head get too big because these people don’t actually know how out there you are." But that’s what moms do. So, thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Just keep being Whoopi. That is what keeps us coming back for more. You are an inspiration for all women. You are living proof you can be yourself and not worry about what others say. Tell your mom she did a great job in how she raised a strong, intelligent and caring woman. God bless your mother.

I can just picture you showing your mom. I’d show my mom to! That’s so cool.. that you’re momma gets to see it. Isn’t it funny that no matter how old we get or how accomplished it’s our mom’s that we want to impress? I’m really touched that you want to be the person your mom hoped you would be. I wanted that to. I want my kids to want that. isn’t it funny… the mom and daughter thing… You were the first comedian that ever said things I was thinking in “that way”. that kind of brilliant in your face way. I loved it. I showed “Fontaine why I’m straight” to ever person i knew for two years. And I’ve admired how you’ve worked your ass off over the years. You do TV, movies, talk shows… you WORK. So ya… you deserve some admiration and birthday wishes. even if you are “out there”.

Perhaps it’s your genuine humility that charms us most, Ms. Whoops. Or your talent. Or your ability to speak truth to power. Or the millions you’ve raised through Comic Relief with the boys…. Or…. Or….. or….

Whoppi, happy birthday, you Scorpio, you. I too am a Scorpio, which, evidently, includes thos individuals of mystery, passion, keen intellect and strong personality. I may have made that up, but it sounds correct for us. I so admire your ‘coolness’, your moves, your perpectives, your ability to control the discussion on The View’. So many peple I know about out in popular culture, but few do I ever feel such a connection, that if they were gone, I would be diminished. I would sincerely miss you; better still I would never forgrt you as an authentic person. Peace and grace
