Text of Whoopi’s comments:

Oh my goodness. So it was brought to my attention that wOw had a happy birthday greeting for me, and all the responses were so cool. So great. You guys, the folks that posted for me and said all those wonderful things about feeling like they were connected because they heard something that made sense to them, or they felt like they were hearing people they cared about talking to them, and hearing the voices of the past, and all of those things kind of threw me for a loop because I’m just sort of here scratching my butt and hoping to help the world somehow. And the fact that you all sent such loving wishes and said such beautiful things, so many of them, I can’t even begin to tell you how great it was that you even cared it was my birthday. I can’t even say, "Thank you." But I’m gonna. That’s why I called in, was to say, "Thank you." I can’t even begin to tell you how it all made me feel. It made me feel like I was the person that my mom hoped that I would grow up to be. Someone who’s a little kooky and a little weird but maybe has something to offer. And what I get from all of you is that you may not agree always but you don’t mind that I have opinions or that I believe in something or that I am the person that I am. Who doesn’t want to be told that they’re OK in the world? And to get such a gorgeous response from you all, it was heaven. It made me very proud and it made my mom really proud because, of course, I told her to read it as well. And she did the mom thing and said, "Don’t let your head get too big because these people don’t actually know how out there you are." But that’s what moms do. So, thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much.

You are so welcome!  You have been a favorite of mine for years.  You are so fair and caring and real.  I like the fact that you are willing to listen and at times admit that maybe the other person has a point.    There are not many of us who are secure enough to do that.  I love the fact that you are a real person .  Nothing fake about Whoopi! Whoopi, belated, but no less heartfelt "Birthday Wishes."  You represent the best in all of us.  Your Mother must know, that all her hopes have come to the fore, in her daughter.

Hi Whoopi, Happy Belated Birthday.  I watched The Color Purple again for the umteenth time and I am blown away by your performance.  I think it is your best, and I’ve seen all your movies.  I hear you when you tell Mister that everything that he has planned for you has already happened to him.  I just always wanted to tell you what an inspiration you have been to me, and I found this website.  I love you lady, keep up the great work on The View and keep giving us all the love and inspiration.  Thanks

Hi Whoopi….I just heard of this site on the view the other day, and it is just great. It has become my new site..I love you on the view, you not only are intelligent, but have such a great sense of humor, you bring so much to the view. I have met you a number of times, especially when you were at the St. James Theatre. My husband is Timmy McDonough, and to this day, he tells everyone that you are his favorite celebrity. He still laughs at your love for Wise Potato Chips. Thanks for informing all of this site. Hope to see you soon, Mary

Whoopi,  your Mum said that people don’t know how actually "out there" you are, that’s why I love you so because of how OUT THERE you are.  You are younger than your years.  You are so cool and you need to know that you have LEGIONS  of fans who love you for you, your talent as an actor, a comedian, an author. Yes, I have book. I found it at a Sally Ann shop and snapped it up.  Haven’t read it yet, but will eventually.  I love how you and Joy Behar interact together.  That moment when she kissed you on the lips, that was priceless!!  I loved your post-kiss comment which I read online.
