Life in the Little Lane: Henny Penny

Once upon a time, yesterday, the beautiful Princess Edith and her dog Hug decided they would play Henney Penny and Chicken Little.  Then we ran into the house and the Princess screamed, “The sky is falling.  The sky is falling.”  And Mom said, “Edith, I don’t have time for this now.  Go back outside and play.”  Sadly, the little girl who didn’t feel like a Princess anymore and her little dog went back outside and waited for the sky to fall down on them.

The End

I’m hoping that after Obama gets elected his administration will create a WPA-like program to get people to work on the infrastructures of our cities.

Elizabeth thanks for the info. I am an independent contractor and we have a mortgage set to readjust next year but were told they can no longer do stated mortgages and just going off of tax returns our debt ratio is to high because of all the write offs. so thanks again I already followed the link and maybe we can get some help to refinance.

Aww Edith, you’re still OUR princess! At least it was “go back outside and play” rather than “Here, play this video game until you’re numb like a zombie”. When life hands you…falling skies…play Cloud Dodgeball! Yeah, I can’t put ANY positive spin on this one -sorry. =(

You know what, Kryssi K? Kids like it best when you tell us the truth. Cause we know anyway, and if you don’t tell us, then we get it all mixed up.

And yet, I seemed to be the only child, back when I was growing up, who knew all along Santa couldn’t have possibly existed. I resented my parents for insulting my intelligence by lying to me year after year. I tried to tell the other kids and they just wouldn’t listen. Funny - how did that happen?

You know, Mugsy Jr., I agree with you, but sometimes grownups need some time to get themselves together so that what they share with their kids will assure them but not scare them. You and all the kids need to know you are safe and loved and that sometimes parents get scared too, but when facing challenges, we all learn to try to manage them. I’m just an old lady who cares about all you little people. Peace and grace

Girls, how about you come in and we’ll have a little tea party. Junior can get out her nice doll dishes and we’ll bake some little scones and have a little jam on them, and some tea with a little cream and sugar, just like the proper British ladies do when they’re upset. I’ve already called your moms, and they say it’s okay. Edith, now you go find Buster and bring him with you, okay? Come with me, Nan, honey, and I’ll get you a kleenex. Mo, you are looking so much better. I told you! Serena! Where did you get that nasty bump on your head? We’d better put some ice on it. Come on, everyone.

Thank you very, very much Aunt Fanny. My mom says I can come over but first I have to wash my hands and face. And neck. And knees. xxoo MugyJr.’s friend, Mo

Maurine, dear, why don’t you ask your mother if she would care to join us?

I just asked my mom, Aunt Fanny, and she said that she would love to come, but she is going to be working all week at the Obama/Biden headquarters. But I’m s’posed to tell you “thank you very much for your nice invitation.”

Mommy, Edith has a new dog now. Buster died and we buried him in the back yard, with the dead canary Aunt Mugsy had in her freezer. Her new dog is real cool. His name is Hug.
