I grew up stealing “The White Album” from my sisters every chance I got. I also stole Joni Mitchell’s “Blue” from them and I still want to skate away on a river. But this is about the Beatles and all I have to say is thank you wowowow for sharing and reminding me of another time.

I was a sophomore in high school when the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan…. it is no exaggeration to say that it changed my life ! And when I discovered that Paul McCartney’s birthday was the same as mine - June 18, well, that was it !! I am an artist, and I spent the next several years drawing pictures of the Beatles, and in fact, used them in my portfolio to apply to art school. I sent a few to Paul for his birthday in 1965 and was CRUSHED, I mean REALLY CRUSHED that he never called me to thank me. I remember one day when the local radio station WPOP, had an all beatles day, My girlfriends and I skipped school and drove around all day with the windows down screaming the words to every song. Oh youth, how fleeting ! Last year I went to see Cirque de Sloeil Beatles Love in Las vegas . It was spectacular, and I would highly recommend it for ANY Beatle fan. Worth a trip JUST for that. I plan to see it again !!!

For all of us, the eternally young: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLxTpsIVxxo The lyrics say it all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaNQjhXhfVs I like to imagine the photos are of them rehearsing for Candlestick Park http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmOx3Tw6yc if I had to pick a favorite, this is it So glad there was this thread to retreat to amid all the hoopla, name calling and general hilarity ensuing on issues that are a blip in the grand scheme of things. Music lasts forever, politicos come and go like Baskin Robbins’ Flavor of the Month. LOVE is all it’s worth being. Injoy

Yep, the Candlestick Park concert on 29 August 1966 was the last live one performed for a paying audience, but the Beatles did do a live, filmed performance atop the Apple Building rooftop in London on 30 January 1969: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea6ZcfJspcI

right by a ”paying” audience—by the roof top was the final in public. Hey Jude(he said it was originally hey jules) was written for Julian by Paul “don’t take it bad” when his mom and lennon were splitting up. I saw Paul in an interview and he remarked how hard it was for him to sing this song still today and he still gets chills when he sings ”the movement you need is on your shoulder” as it reminds him so much of John—shrug it off……….God I miss them……..
