Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter––tomorrow we will run faster, stretch our our arms farther…And one fine morning–––– So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”

Ah, Gatsby! The Buchanans, Tom and Daisy, are perhaps the ones behind all this financial calamity, at least they want other people to clean up the mess they made. I loved that novel, read it over and over. I still remember that line about how it takes two to make an accident whenever I drive.

Tender Is the Night” is one of the most important books I’ve read. Perhaps, it is the best written novel by an American; it is definitely an American classic.

I think that was one of only three or four books I voluntarily read in its ENTIRETY during school. I really did NOT agree with most of the selections by my teachers! (The same one who had us read Gatsby also got us to read Anthem by Ayn Rand. It seemed to go over most of the students’ heads but I’ve always had a deep appreciation for it all these years…) I thought this film was pretty well-casted, by the way. Mia Farrow is just absolute loveliness…
