Kitty OKeefe, are you defending the beating of women? It certainly sounds like it. “Physically strong and fearless” is fine and “lifelong soldiers or police officers” is great but “masculinity,” strength and fearlessness are no excuse or explanation for violence against women. I hope no OKeefe man ever struck an Okeefe woman!!!
Hi Sam,
What a ridiculous question.
Here in the US, we don’t convict any person without allowing him to face his accuser in a court of law. The violence to which you refer to is an allegation, not a conviction, but since you asked, the O’Keefe men protected countless women from domestic violence.
And no, no O’Keefe woman was ever struck by ANY man. You read quite a bit that isn’t there into my comment - perhaps you should conside a career in tabloid reporting.
I just know that at any age, Sir Sean is one of the sexiest men on this planet, and his turn as the doomed cop in “The Untouchables” was thrilling, honest and gritty and his Academy Award was well deserved. Happy Birthday!
You can watch Connery discuss when it is appropriate to slap a woman with Barbara Walters at http://www.videosift.com/video/Barbra-Walters-interviews-Sean-Connery-on…
I find his comments beyond the pail - I don’t think it is ever right to hit a woman or, for that matter, a child. Connery disagrees, as he explains to Ms. Walters.
The problem, as I see it, is that many of you ladies are willing to excuse Connery his unpleasant opinions because he is such a hunk on film. Think, for a minute, why don’t you, of what your acceptance of his defense of hitting women means. It means that other men should be allowed to say to you, when they slap you about for, for example, wanting the last word and wanting to repeat it (Connery’s excuse), “Don’t worry, dear, it’s OK because Sir Sean says so.”
I am appalled at the lack of understanding that accompanies this forgiveness by so many bright women of brutality against women, provided that such brutality is deemed acceptable by a handsome movie star with a Scottish brogue.
Connery’s attitude is a danger to ALL women and provides an excuse to ANY man who wants to rough up a woman.
Yay Connery! I’ve always had a thing for him, since I was, like, 9. Definitely the only man I’d consider going straight for, hahaha…
(What the hell is it with me and Virgos?! Chrissie Hynde, Shirley Manson, Johnette Napolitano, Jacqueline Bisset, Fiona Apple, Lily friggin’ Tomlin; the list DOES indeed go ON and ON…)
James Bond, the first and best, is 78 ?
That’s just downright depressing, you just ruined my day !
I will need to fix it with a martini, shaken, not stirred.
