My Goodness! This is so special for so many reasons. I have shared my birthday with Julie Andrews for so many years and it means so much for so many reasons. First, Carol…you are an angel…you are like a firefly. That’s one of my truest compliments…not many people can be a firefly. Since I was a little girl, I knew that Oct. 1st was Julie Andrews Birthday…and it is mine. I also knew…later on, that former President Jimmy Carter shared my birthday as well. Both of these fine examples of human goodness were a kind of birthday to live up to. Julie..well, how could anyone want to share a birthday with a better person than that?!?! And then, I grew up a bit…and Jimmy Carter came into the picture. Wow….you can say what you want, but this man represents all that I want for the world. He is amazing, just like Julie Andrews . These are two people I have looked up to as pillars in their own ways. AND, wow, I get to share my birthday with them! So, Happy Birthday Julie and Jimmy. Please Know that I consider this coincidence a Happy-stance…and both of you have helped form my virtues. I am proud to share my birthday with two of the most honorable “celebs” I know!

How does everyone know it’s your birthday, Josie? I didn’t know that so I must be missing a link or two––hmmm? But now that I do know, I wish you a very Happy––Birth––Day. You and Julie share that date, but you also share the word Artist––different mediums, but artists all the same–––don’t know if you can sing, though–––like our Mary Poppins, Eliza Dolittle, Maria singing on the highest mountain making the hills come alive, and of course there is always Camelot. Julie was also darn good at serious drama–––I remember her in a film called “The Education of Emily” which at the time was seen as somewhat explicit sexually––which is exactly why I wanted to see it. What do the simple folk do to help them escape when they’re blue? The shepherd who is ailing, the milkmaid who is glum The cobbler who is wailing from nailing his thumb When they’re beset and besieged The folk not noblessly obliged However do they manage to shed their weary lot? Oh, what do simple folk do we do not? Not a half bed question for today, doncha think???

Correction: “The Americanization of Emily” and “bad” instead if “bed”, although bed might be closer to the truth given that we have so many strange bedfellows in Congress nowadays.

Nothing comes from nothing. Nothing ever could, so Somewhere in my youth, or childhood, I must’ve done something good.” This is the Julie Andres lyric that’s been going through my head throughout this financial crisis. Those of us with little or nothing to lose may be feeling happier with our choices than ever.
