Hockey Fans Booed 'Hockey Mom' Sarah Palin at Flyers' Game (Video)

The self-proclaimed "hockey mom" was booed by hockey fans in Philadelphia last night.

Sarah Palin did not receive the warmest welcome before she dropped the ceremonial puck at Saturday’s NHL hockey game between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers. The Republican vice presidential candidate’s visit was one day after a legislative probe concluded that she abused her power as Alaska’s governor, CNN reported. The report probing Palin’s firing of Alaska’s public safety commissioner found that Palin violated a state’s ethic’s law — which prohibit using public office for personal benefit — when she tried to get Mike Wooten fired. Wooten was a state trooper and Palin’s sister’s ex-husband. The investigation also stated that Palin’s firing of the commisioner Walter Monegan was authorized.

"Flyers’ fans, please welcome the best-known hockey mom in the United States," the announcer said. Watch the YouTube clip below to see what happened next:

It’s sort of a sad statement on the state of things in this United States when seeing a vice-presidential candidate being booed rather than inciting racism is a heartening experience and gives one hope that there are still a number or rational human beings in this country.

I’m not a Palin fan and she has certainly been campaigning on the dirty side of things and inciting some pretty hateful behavior in A FEW Republicans. She is a big girl and I’m sure the she will let the Booing if the crowd roll off. The thing that bothered me most was her five-year-old daughter being in the middle of that anger. I truly believe small children should NOT be on the campaign trail. It did seem that the booing died down once Palin and her girls took the ice - I hope this was because the crowd saw the kids and backed off. I certainly wouldn’t want to explain to a child why thousands of people were booing us.

Put the blame on the mom—-dragging her kids, as a dead moose, into the arena of shame—-

Those children need to be home with grandparents and/or a nanny, sleeping in their own beds, going to SCHOOL, trying to be normal children while Sarah and Todd are off campaigning. Dragging them around in all the insanity does not make her mother-of-the-month material.

No—-you think Palin has one ‘mothering-gene’? that does not jibe with her shown pride/w/daughter at whacking a caribou at 1/2 mile—-teach kids to kill? that’s not ‘hunting’, simple cowardice—-when i was a Real-Bush Wasillan, our ‘Riverdale Estates manse had No garbage system—-fortunately we had a trash compactor—-but ya still had to drive 10 miles up the Alcan, turn left to the local dump-‘Big Lake’. Now grizzly’s love dumps—-their Smorg—-and they are much cleverer than Palin—-as my second son would toss the ‘stuff’, did we see grizzlies? yep—- i stood as ‘armed-guard’—-they never came in range, and before Palin ever saw AK, i was a legend—-popping-bottles at 150’ with a handgun—-no easy thing—-do i consider hunting immoral? no—-just ‘even’ the playing ground—-OK? or you are no hunter—-just a ‘killer’.

i was raised where guns were furniture—-my 1st was a daisy bb rifle, ‘lazy-daisy’—-ya could see the bb arc to target—-i popped a Cardinal at 100+meters—-poor thing was still alive—-it truly did ‘eye-talk’, like ‘why do this to me?’—-so i quit hunting—-i still fish—-catch/release—-as for surfing? yeah twice i turned my back on a dinky wave—-unwise—-once La Jolla, once Maui—-Dumb—so i’ve 2 fuzed disk—-ouch. karma? like Hunter Thompson, still love guns, not killing—-cheers—-

I still hear people say they don’t get what the bally hoo is all about. They excuse the crowd and remarks. These are the same people who say African Americans play the race card and that the only racism is black racism. I was not familar with Acorn until this presidental race. I don’t understand when some of the ladies on this site have mentioned Acorn and somehow it is linked to “Community Organizer” / The mission statement of Acorn doesn’t sound like it diserves scorn. Could some one in plain English provide some background ?. I am politically knowledgeable about somethings others not so much. Thanks

Hi Starry..Granted, I am fairly lazy. But I am also relatively new to the wonders of the web and how to go about running down information that can be considered “truthful”..The folks here seem to be so willing to post helpful links and I am grateful for that… I’d never heard of Acorn, either… Yesterday, on C-span there was a call-in segment with Bill Adair of Politifact. I think I’ll start looking in on the “truth-o-meter” as a starting point…Someone will probably suggest other sites for info…. http://www.politifact.org Re: the unrulies and the ballyhoo….rude is rude is rude and, even worse, you can’t fix stupid…no matter what your various inclinations might be.

it deserves no scorn—-just an understanding of how many millions Do Not register or vote for numerous reasons—-some feel it’s all ‘rigged’, as it were, so why bother, some fear reprisal (i’ve seen that), many doubt their vote will matter—-ACORN seems a simple ‘get legal voters registered to vote’ effort—-a worthy cause in a nation often bopped via voter-fraud—-the ‘Electoral College’ a perfect example—-they may ‘over-ride’ a popular vote, as they please—-so, many potential voters have simply ‘given-up’—-ACORN tries to right things, as best they may—-

starry; I too was unaware of the Acorn group, until this same day, while I watched it on CSpan! We must always have CSPAN! As far as the Palin and children thing… as I watched her on that stage with her family and McCain, etc., I noticed the baby and how she was handling it. It really ticked me off! It was as though the child was a stuffed animal, and not a child! I hate it when parents treat their children like that! It is quite a different thing, if they are playing with them… she was not playing!

Ro- My mother was just talking about how Gov. Palin holds her baby. She said she holds it like a sack of potatoes. (LOL) I read that the conservatives have been taking aim at Acorn for many years. Every election it seems they go at it. But of course this election just seems to intensify everthing.

I could not bear to watch all of the first video, without thinking, hoping those idiots were “plants” - I wouldn’t put it past that campaign at all. When they shout out hate filled comments about Senator Obama’s citizen status, being a terrorist, and more, aside from easily laughing at their idiocy, one must realize that those very people know nothing about our government, how people are elected to office, and the security clearances involved; it’s an insult to all including McBlame, and mizzy Palin to have such ignorant, hate-mongering people any where near them, and dangerous at best. Do they realize that such people must not be trusted for a minute? Never second-guess such people. They must be keeping the FBI working 24/7. How much is that costing us? Is anyone stopping them? I well-remember the late 50s-60s, and the sit-ins, and efforts we put forth to bring equity and equality to all, and in spite of uprisings, and the violent KKK, I never of heard people like those now with the McCain campaign anywhere in America. This must be stopped.
