Illinois Senate Impeaches Blago

Rod Blagojevich is out of a job.

The Illinois Senate voted 59-0 yesterday to impeach the governor, who’s accused of trying to sell President Barack Obama’s Senate seat there. Blagojevich addressed his colleagues earlier in the day and implored them to rethink their actions. There was no proof, he insisted once again, that he did anything wrong. And, what’s more, he hadn’t been able to fully present his side of the story. Perhaps it was these lawmakers’ stubbornness that sent Blagojevich jetting through his media blitz this week. It seems every time we turn around — Blagojevich!

Blagojevich spoke with the press last night and said he’s "saddened" by the impeachment, but knew it was coming, so he’s not surprised. He also insisted he’ll keep fighting to clear his name. And that fight could take months, which means we haven’t heard the last from the governor.

Illinois is wasting no time moving on — Blagojevich’s picture has already been removed from the capitol building and will be replaced by new Gov. Patrick Quinn, who was Mr. Blagojevich’s assistant. Citizens, too, are looking forward to a new political era. One Waterloo resident remarked, "He made his plea in front of the Senate, and it didn’t work. I’m glad this is done. Let’s start all over. We’re the laughingstock of the country."

Why does this not surprise me? He certainly has enjoyed the media attention, hasn’t he…I guess we will be seeing him everywhere. And, he’ll write The Book, he gotta do that. I wonder if he now has an agent.

Ill bet that within 2 months….. he will have a spot as a Faux News Analyst. Most of their analysts are those that failed or was kicked out of something.

Also… let’s pay tribute to the fact that this was a bi-partisan Impeachment process. The Democrats were as aggressive at going after Blagojevich as the Republicans. Democrats are not squeamish about bi-partisanship.

This man is hilarious! At first I thought he was just an eccentric guy, but the more I have heard him speak the more I realize he is delusional! He has an ego the size of the state of Illinois. And it is because he is who he is that I predict he will be very successful. Like countless other no-names that are given their moment on the national stage, he too will milk it for all that its worth!

See, Impeachment isn’t that difficult to do, comes in handy when it’s needed, and IS the duty of the Legislative branch.

One thing for sure the man can talk and talk and talk…sometimes people are too intelligent for their own good, I do think he was a very smart man and should have known better but he should have gone it was causing too much controversy.

No, he made himself look bad. Although everyone in government has to feel a sense of responsibility and accountablility for his actions which is why BOTH parties voted him out.

He really made the Democratic Party look bad. By Tanja Pineda on 01/30/2009 11:30 am No Tanja he made himself look bad. Just like all the republicans didn’t seem to make a dent in your armour. You have Repbulican governers doing time. It is unfortunate for everyone that we have public servants who betray our trust.

And I thought the governor scandals in NY and NJ were bad, but in the end those jokers resigned. Blago should have done the same for the sake of his state, but used the sake of his wife and kids as an excuse to feed his own ego.
