Bond Girl, Cougar, Medic and Mystery-Solver: What Can't Jane Seymour Do?

Editor’s Note: Golden Globe and Emmy-winning actress and friend of wowOwow.com Jane Seymour stars in the Hallmark Channel original movie "Dear Prudence." Here, she joins us for an exclusive Q & A and talks about the plastic surgery she’s had and the plastic surgery she’s yet to undergo, her experience as a Bond Girl, working with the comedic team of Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, what attracted her to the role of Prudence McCoy and more. "Dear Prudence" will premiere on the Hallmark Channel August 23 at 9 PM.

WOW: We loved your new TV movie, "Dear Prudence"! Your character. Prudence McCoy, is a resourceful scientist with a keen sense of curiosity who solves a murder while on her vacation. What drew you to this role?

JANE: I read the script of "Dear Prudence" and I thought it was a really fun character, very unusual and nothing like anything I’d ever read or seen before. I thought it was a wonderful mixture of a comedic character and a murder mystery. I also loved the idea of playing English for a change, I thought I could have a lot of fun with that.

WOW: Prudence is full of home remedies for everything – a lemon rubbed on your forehead cures a headache, oatmeal gets rid of razor burn. Do these remedies work?  Have you tried any of them?

JANE: People love to see home remedies and this is the fun part of the character of Prudence. It’s been fun for us too because we can look up all the different home remedies there are and use them on the show and, yes, apparently they do work. Have I tried any of them? Some of them, yes. I’ve definitely tried the hemorrhoid cream for eyes and yes it does work.

WOW: So many films are being shot on location in Canada now. What was it like filming in Calgary, Alberta?

JANE: It was really fun filming in Canada. Calgary is absolutely beautiful. I was really pleasantly surprised, by not only how exquisitely modern, beautiful and fun Calgary the city is, but the countryside outside of there is just breathtaking, really spectacular. It was perfect to take the place of Wyoming.

WOW: We hear they’re thinking of turning "Dear Prudence" into a series. What can we expect?

JANE: There has been talk of doing more Prudences – nothing definite yet, so I don’t really know. I imagine they might do some individual movies, a series of movies rather than a regular television series.

WOW: You played [the character] Solitaire opposite Roger Moore in "Live and Let Die." What was it like being a Bond girl? It was Moore’s first Bond film – is he your favorite James Bond?

JANE: Playing Solitaire was quite a heady experience at the time. I was 20 years old, I had barely seen a Bond film and, of course, Roger Moore was this incredibly famous leading man on television in "The Saint," one of my favorites. So I was quite intimidated at first with the concept of playing the love interest of Roger Moore.

WOW: Recently you starred opposite Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in "Wedding Crashers" as a dangerous Mrs. Robinson-type. Was that fun? 

JANE: Playing opposite Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in "Wedding Crashers" was a huge amount of fun. I just wished they had filmed the behind-the-scenes escapades as well, because Vince and Owen, as funny as they were in "Wedding Crashers," are even funnier sometimes on the set. It was just an amazing experience. We shot in a beautiful place and we were all staying close by, most of us were in the same hotel. The character I played, Kitty Kat, was one of my favorite characters. When I first read the script, it made me laugh out loud several times. I just thought, I know who this character is and I know how to play her, so I was really excited to have been given that opportunity.
