Joan Ganz Cooney Is Still Wet Behind the Ears

Joan Ganz Cooney
By definition, every new job, new house, new husband, new friend are unchartered waters so I’ve traversed many. All the experiences ahead of me including death itself are uncharted waters. So I don’t necessarily look forward to the great adventures ahead.

Well, Joan, death is the journey none exactly look forward to cashing in our tickets on; that being said, I have to tell you about the people I live around. They are fighters. They are survivors. They are the Greatest Generation and they depart on many journeys on a weekly basis. For instance, my neighbor acrosss the street is such an inspiration to me. She travels, she golfs, she had a wreck recently but still drives. In her car crash, she was injured cracking several vertebrae. By statistics, one might have thought she was down for the count. Not this woman! After several months of physical therapy she was back on her feet and out on the golf course. She is 93. She is still competent to drive and traverses many journeys of many kinds. My point is the only destination left is not death. Her advice to me was this, “If you stop moving, you die” So chin up and have a great day.
