Many years ago, Newsweek prepared a cover story on Sesame Street and me. I spent one Saturday posing for pictures in East Harlem with Big Bird. After the magazine was printed up on Saturday, the cover was canceled in favor of a picture of a hammer and sickle because some big story about the Soviet Union had broken. I have a framed copy of the cover. Since that traumatic experience, I have never thought even remotely about appearing on the cover of a magazine.
