Joan Juliet Buck Isn't Second-Guessing

Joan Juliet Buck
I refuse to make myself anxious by trying to second guess what any of the Obamen and Obawomen are doing. Good luck to them all.

I’m not anxious either. But, I refuse to “stick my head in the sand” by not paying attention. It’s good to write to our elected officials, to keep our concerns at the forefront.

I CAN WAIT, HE HAS JUST started on an impossible problem. Can you think of anyone else tackeling it?

I just wish, Joan, that the cable media, and the extreme blogs, had your attitude…..when I listen and read, all sound so urgent about the little things….sometimes I think they are ‘making the news’ by purposely ‘creating’ something controversial to keep their ratings up….and when I step back and reflect on what they are trying to point out—-my gut reaction is ‘so?’ Why is that news? What’s “wrong” with that? And in the case of Rush Limbaugh? It is the MEDIA that has appointed him the leader of the Republican party—- ohhhh…I need to get off my soapbox right now!

Amen Patty…although I would say we agree for conflicting reasons. Joan is absolutely right, step back and let Obama and his administration do their thing. Everyone should have a voice on what we see taking place, but as Patty points out and I agree, the media should stop attempting to tell “us” what we should be concerned about. Because just as Axelrod said on another thread today, what journalists and commentators want to harp on is vastly different than what the average American’s concerns are. Nowhere was this more evident than what we saw over the last three weeks. Every time I turned on the news, read a newspaper or online blog I was being told how Obama and the Democrats are ruining American and jeopardizing our children’s futures with his spending package. And that the Republican are against it because it is too much money, too much spending, not enough taxes cuts, but nothing to offer as an alternative to his package. While all along everyone I know was worrying about finding a new job, paying their mortgage and car notes, health insurance and simply surviving one more month. While the babies in business suits in Washington squabble and grandstand.
