John McCain Hosts QVC with 'Sarah Palin' on 'Saturday Night Live' (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com
John McCain and "Sarah Palin" on SNL

With three days left until Election Day, John McCain put his campaign to a halt to make an appearance on NBC’s "Saturday Night Live" — where he poked fun at his campaign financial shortcomings and sold McCain-themed merchandise on a fake QVC show.

McCain, alongside "Sarah Palin" (Tina Fey), kicked off saying how this past Wednesday Barack Obama purchased airtime on three major networks, but his campaign, however, can only afford QVC. McCain advertised a set of knives that cut through pork in Washington. "Palin" advertised a set of Joe action figures commemorating Joe the Plumber, Joe Six Pack and Democratic rival Joe Biden. If you pull Biden’s cord, he talks for 45 minutes … Cindy McCain briefly appeared but didn’t speak as she showcased "McCain Fine-Gold" jewelry, a play on the campaign finance law McCain helped authored. Called the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA) of 2002, the law is also known as "McCain- Feingold."

"Palin" also pulled out T-shirts saying "Palin 2012."

"If I’m not going to the White House," she said, "I’m either running in four years or I’m going to be a white Oprah."

Watch John McCain and "Sarah Palin" address the nation on QVC:

McCain also appeared on Weekend Update to talk about his new, radical campaign strategies. Watch the video below to learn how the "Reverse Maverick" and "The Sad Grandpa" will help McCain win the election.

While McCain did make fun of himself, this was obviously a campaign move. The comedy show’s impact on this election is more than evident. Last month, when the real Sarah Palin appeared on the show, it was the highest rated "SNL" episode in 14 years.

I loved the Starbucks commerical that followed Weekend Update. Now Dunkin Donuts is closer to my polling place, so if they would kindly make the same offer, I’ll be there!!! The opening of the SNL was hilarious. McCain always had a great sense of humor. And the Palin bit as always, the best!!!

Last month, when the real Sarah Palin appeared on the show, it was the highest rated “SNL” episode in 14 years. Geez, I wonder why…they kept her in hiding…no interviews…everybody wanted to know who Sarah Palin is. Now we know…she’s an idiot!

Hey Tee, you better be careful about what you say about Sarah! I stated those exact words and I was called a 7 year old by another person on WowOWow! As for me, I still think she is an idiot. I said that my 4 year old granddaughter could be bop just as well as Palin did on SNL. I actually thought McCain did well at least better than Sarah did last month. I got a few chuckles out of the opening bit. Not enough to change my vote, however! Not that I could anyway, I voted as soon as early voting started.

I’ve already been their victim Joan. There is one in particular who keeps stating how vicious we all are and continues to indulge in name calling but is the biggest offender here. Perhaps her mirror is broken. My opinion is my opinion, I won’t read theirs and they won’t read mine.

I’d give it a 6 out of 10.

I watched SNL last night and I thought the McCain bits were really funny and that he did a very good job with them. However, I think it was a mistake for him to do it. McCain appearing with Tina Fey and his wife in the spoof infomercial on an advertising channel, looked way to normal and natural. Tina Fey’s Palin appeared in the perfect element for her “talents” and McCain and even his wife, appeared in the perfect element as well. Cindy didn’t look like a First Lady, she looked like the perfect hand model to sell jewelry and John McCain did NOT come off as presidential material at all, he seemed in his element. The funniest line on the show for me was when McCain during the “news” said one of his last minute tactics might be to become “Sad Grampa”. I can really understand now why Obama has stayed away from SNL and The View these days. He did those things earlier when the exposure was good and being a bit light was OK. But he certainly doesn’t need the exposure now, and this close to the election looking Presidential is much more important than appearing a good sport on an entertainment venue. Sitting on the sofa between the ladies of the View would not make him look presidential. Spoofing himself on SNL wouldn’t at this time either.

Has everyone read Barack Obama’s comments on that plum endorsement John McCain got from DICK CHENEY? : “I’d like to congratulate Senator McCain on this endorsement because he really earned it. That endorsement didn’t come easy. Senator McCain had to vote 90 percent of the time with George Bush and Dick Cheney to get it. He served as Washington’s biggest cheerleader for going to war in Iraq, and supports economic policies that are no different from the last eight years. So Senator McCain worked hard to get Dick Cheney’s support. But here’s my question for you, Colorado: do you think Dick Cheney is delighted to support John McCain because he thinks John McCain’s going to bring change? Do you think John McCain and Dick Cheney have been talking about how to shake things up, and get rid of the lobbyists and the old boys club in Washington?” And here’s what Joe Biden had to say about it: “If you ever had any doubt that John McCain would continue George Bush’s policies — you can put those to rest. Just today, Vice President Cheney came out and endorsed John McCain. Do we need any more proof? I’m not surprised. Dick Cheney has been wrong on everything else the last eight years. He’s on a roll.”

DeBúrca obj, Thank you for posting these comments from Obama and Biden. I had not heard nor seen them. Cheney that is one scary man. I have always thought that he was calling the shots in the Bush Agenda.

Thanks for the post. I had not yet read, or seen it. You are right on, with the DC thing, as far as I am concerned. I will be SO HAPPY to get rid of this ilk in Washington, DC. I don’t know if I can wait for another few weeks. It really is only a few weeks from now! Like what? Ummm, this is Nov. 3rd, (by the time this is read) 27 + 31 + 20 ? = 78 days. It also occurred to me; are our military counting the days, as well? Curious how now, finally, we may be able to actually also count the time (days) when perhaps, most of them can come back home…

Course, I’m wild for liver and onions. So my taste may not matter.

Ms Dee, I also like liver and onions - the way my mother cooked it though - almost burnt on the outside, cooked firm on the inside. However, I am also leaning more toward vegetarian diet. I love salads!

oops, I forgot the subject matter, I got so caught up with liver and onions. I watched sNL. and, was not really that impressed. JM is still so rigid! Even when he makes jokes.
