Kathy Griffin Wishes Hecklers a Profane New Year (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

What were the suits at CNN thinking when they cast their golden boy Anderson Cooper with brassy-haired vulgarian Kathy Griffin?

In case you missed it, comedienne Kathy Griffin lashed out at hecklers with lewd and vulgar remarks Wednesday night while hosting a live New Year’s Eve show with the mild-mannered reporter Anderson Cooper.

"Screw you," she told the New Orleans revelers. "Why don’t you get a job, buddy? You know what? I don’t go to your job and knock the d- - - out of your mouth."

Cooper’s head nearly spun 360° as he called for commercial break. Right before the audio cuts out, Griffin says, "That’s not …" Do you think the rest said, "referring to you, Cooper"?

Griffin, who stars in the Bravo reality TV series "My Life on the D-List," is known for her firecracker ways. No one can ever predict the outlandish remarks that’ll come from the petite redhead’s mouth — and no one is too sacred to be poked fun at. Accepting an award for her Bravo show at the 2007 Emmy Awards, Griffin told Jesus to "suck it." While Christian groups largely denounced that speech, the New Year’s clip hasn’t sparked much controversy. If you look at Griffin’s official MySpace profile, most — if not all — of the comments praised her shtick. We found her to be pretty funny New Year’s Eve … if incredibly offensive, rude and tasteless, such as when she asked Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN medical correspondent, for a pap smear. And we’re still wondering what in the world she was thinking with her word choice, or, dare we say, dick-tion?

Anderson Cooper should decline any Kathy Griffin contact in the future. He’s class and she’s trash.. out for only shock ratings. CNN execs should not invite her back on their network. Bravo can keep her.

I agree - he’s class and she’s trash. And she’s not even funny.

Yeah, I don’t like Kathy Griffin at all. Haven’t for a long time. Cultural sludge, Griffin and her following. That sort of thing isn’t funny.

I watched only a few minutes of the show and it made ME uncomfortable watching Anderson TRY to talk to Kathy. Not a good match at all!

Why did he accept the pairing in the first place? Is he worried about his job? Come on, no way should he be placed with someone like that, sure they need humor but that takes thought, not just talking rude.

Gee, am I the only one that gets her humor? I love Kathy Griffin. Oh my Lord,10 years ago I would have been so offended by her humor and that of the show Family Guy and other irreverent humorists. But something clicked inside me where I finally “get it” I don’t know why, but I do. And especially now that a fellow bloggers from this site has opened my eyes in terms of “who” Anderson Cooper really is and how he may now be living a particularly open and honest life…..I love the fact that Kathy makes him uncomfortable with Gay humor.

I haven’t seen enough of Kathy Griffin to determine if I like her or not. Family Guy on the other hand, is absolutely ridiculously funny, I watch it quite often for comical relief.

You do realize you and I are in the minority in regard to Family Guy Catherine. Most people on this site don’t share in our love for the show. I’m with you, it’s perfect comic relief. I never in a million years thought I would laugh at the mere thought of a pedophile, yet the old man Herbert the neighbor kills me!

Yes Belinda, I know we are the minority when it comes to Family Guy. The funny thing is, when I was in my 20’s I probably would’ve been outraged by the show, I remember when my husband and I got married I banned Married with Children in my house. Now I watch the reruns and laugh my butt off. This world has become so politcally correct and uptight, we have to watch every word in order not to offend, it’s ridiculous. I say everyone should kick off their shoes put their feet up, pour a cocktail and watch Family Guy and relax!

You’re not alone! I “get” her humor. It’s not always funny, but I get it. Sometimes she is grating (mostly that’s her voice), but overall she’s still entertaining. I bet there wouldn’t be as many haters if she wasn’t Je…nevermind. Lighten up, people.

I’m with you Belinda..it took me a while but I do get her humor and love it. Anderson and Kathy were together last year for New Years at Times Square so he wasn’t unaware of her ability to go “off” on someone or a subject. He enjoys as much as we do.
