What the Hell Happened to Lara Flynn Boyle?

Liz Smith

Below is a picture of Lara Flynn Boyle, once a star in “The Practice,” as she was seen this week at Mr. Chow’s restaurant in Beverly Hills.

What the hell happened to this girl? A failed romance with Jack Nicholson seems to have sent her the fluffed up lips route.

Who cares, really?

Are you sure that’s her?

Maybe she’s on prednisone or some other medication.

This is not her, or is it?

Hollywood? Ego? Health? Surgery? If we are speculating on this, aren’t we engaging in the very behavior we decry? Remember she is someone’s daughter, friend, sister. Lara, I send you a prayer for healing.

If her neck wasn’t still skinny, I’d think she had the mumps. But to Suzanne’s point…who really cares?

Great product placement for the Sharpie.

Liz, I know you are a celebrity “gossip” columnist by trade, but this either isn’t Lara Flynn Boyle or there is a very logical explanation why her face looks the way it does, in this photo. My 2 cents……I think it would be in very poor taste for us to discuss her appearance, based on a single photograph with no further explanation.

I think it would be in very poor taste for us to discuss her appearance, based on a single photograph with no further explanation. I agree with Karen and would like to add we should not discuss others flaws period. We have to be a nicer world.

Why should we be discussing anyones appearance at any level of information obtained- especially a woman’s? Women have such low self esteem with all of this superficial focus on looks.

Has anyone asked her?

In the photo, she looks as if she’s been crying, and she looks the way my sister looked when she was on chemo. I’d definitely agree about the colloid injections. But mostly she looks deeply, deeply unhappy, poor thing.

Hasn’t anyone out there gotten caught up in this latest beauty marker … the full lip syndrome ala Jolie or Johanssen? It’s hard to keep it all straight. Let’s see — a beautiful woman is supposed to have big lips, big hair, BIG breasts, tiny waist, hips, thighs. If she could somehow manage to stay under 40 years old, that would be very much appreciated!! I, for one, will admit it. I have probably spent a $100.00 on various lip plumping products; it’s just so tempting … slather this stuff on and your thin little lips will become plump and kissable. Alas, they do not work, and after seeing the unfortunate results of various celebrities, I would not seek a professional cosmetic procedure, but just add it to my growing “acceptance list!” But if little old midwestern, middle-aged me can fall into the trap, I cannot even imagine the pressure on a Hollywood actress trying to stay current and relevant. It’s shallow, but it’s honest, and I believe more women are affected by it than let on.

Carol: There is actually one that does help. It’s called LexxLips. It is not a miracle, just effective. A tube is about $40-45. It lasts approximately 5-6 months. It is sold via multi-level marketing consultants. It really does help with fine lines and thinning lips. You use it 3 times daily for at least 3 weeks, then am/pm. If you wish to just use once a day, one still receives benefits. I speak with confidence as a clinical and spa esthetician of 20 years experience. As a working woman myself, my beauty dollars need to be spent on products that deliver. This one does. I do not make recommendations on those that don’t. Hope you get a chance to try it. And no, I do not retail it personally, although I am due for a new supply. P.S. A beautiful woman is beautiful because she sees herself as that. In joy.

My guess is she’s sick or was sick. She certainly looks stressed. Too bad, my heart goes out to her.
