What the Hell Happened to Lara Flynn Boyle?

Liz Smith

Below is a picture of Lara Flynn Boyle, once a star in “The Practice,” as she was seen this week at Mr. Chow’s restaurant in Beverly Hills.

What the hell happened to this girl? A failed romance with Jack Nicholson seems to have sent her the fluffed up lips route.

Yes, I saw her also on Law and Order. That’s how she looked on the show, kept thinking that can’t be here. Well we should care! Don’t know if this is true, heard it was from plastic surgery. Illness or whatever happened, it must be a very difficult time for her. I hope things get better for her.

I always liked Kim Delaney & wonder what happened to her after NYPD Blue. Someone with that much talent should still be on a good television show. I know she was busted for dui, but wouldn’t she go get help and then make a comeback? I hate reading that my favorite actors, singers, etc. are wasting their talent on drugs or alcohol.

I think Kim Delaney is in the TV cable series “Army Wives.” It’s a good show, on hiatus now. Also stars the gal from “Northern Exposure.” It’s on TNT or USA or Lifetime.

Please, can we stay above the catty gossip? I thought this site was about MATURE womens’ issues. I’m with the ladies who said, “WHO CARES?!?!” Now, let’s talk about something relevant, or at least entertaining.

Ginger….I recently watched “A Good Year” Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe film based on Peter Mayle’s novel. It’s set in So of France where my son went to HS and where I set my novel, French Heart….so I loved, loved, loved this film. Loved seeing Albert Finney again, he was fantastic. Director’s cuts were worth the price of the DVD. Here’s a short Apple clip focused on music…love that too as never thought about choice of Patsy CLine piece to open a dinner party arrival scene in France but Scott is right it viscerally worked… http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/agoodyear/ridleyscottmusicfeaturette/ and the music like the classic Charles Trenet ‘Boum”…a little corny but charming: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0KWyWwVp0E Wonder if anyone else saw it and what they thought. It is a departure from the usual Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe genre but it showed such integrity for Mayle’s fun novel…really deepened it and brought it fully alive…nice escape for me. And think it says a lot about choices and lifestyle today. Did you see it by chance?

It’s an honor to be with women like so many of the respondents, here. Opening up and speaking out about trivial actions against anyone is important in every sector of life - and to any youngsters who over-hear ‘us.’ See Ms. Heart, it doesn’t mean anyone’s “bitter…” merely informed, and confident. IOW, I agree - please let’s stop the catty queries. It doesn’t become us, and only serves lurkers.

Thanks for a great topic, Suzanne. And for the clip. I never heard of the film, but I will look for it. I love Ridley Scott’s movies. Some of my favorite movies of all time were directed by him - Alien, Legend, Thelma & Louise. He’s brilliant.

Actually LFB was already starting the injections when she was on “The Practise” (or whichever law show it was). My husband and I used to gawp at her swollen lips, wondering why anyone thinks she looks good as a duck. I think you just lose perspective. It reminds me of the hilarious Goldie Hawn character in “”First Wives Club” where she has her lips blown up so big she can’t pronounce words.

Does it matter. What’s the purpose of this website? How someone looks is a diversion from incredible things of substance in the real world. Is this what we want this time on the planet to be known as? Have we totally replaced any critical thinking with how stars look, what they say, do? It’s cruel to observe other people that way.

Thanks for this. Makes me feel less alone in the world.

Please. My very first thought the first time I saw the pictures of the women who post on this site, Liz Smith included, was how, um, rested they all look. As for Lara Flynn B., she is looking a lot like Elizabeth McGovern.
