Lean Cuisine Recall: The Three Frozen Meals to Avoid

By The Staff at wowOwow.com
Lean Cuisine Chicken Tuscan may contain plastic

Do not microwave these three Lean Cuisines. Nestlé, the international food corporation, has issued a recall on three of its frozen, healthy meals. Chicken Mediterranean, Chicken Tuscan and Chicken Pesto with Bow Tie Pasta may contain pieces of hard plastic inside them.

The 3 Recalled Lean Cuisine Chicken Meals:

1) Lean Cuisine Pesto Chicken with Bow Tie Pasta: Production code "8280595912" with a use-by date of "Best before MAY 2010."
2) Lean Cuisine Chicken Mediterranean: Production code "8231595912" or "8241595912" with a use-by date of "Best before SEP 2010"; production code "8263595912," "8269595911" or "8274595912," with a use-by date of "Best before OCT 2010"; or, a production code "8291595912" or "8301595912" with a use-by date of "Best before NOV 2010."
3) Lean Cuisine Chicken Tuscan: Production code of "8234595911" and a use-by date of "Best before SEP 2009"; Production code "8253595911" or "8269595912" with a use-by date of "Best before OCT 2009"; or, a production code of "8292595911" or "8296595911" with a use-by date of "Best before NOV 2009."

Approximately 879,565 pounds of chicken were recalled in total. Two years ago, 97,000 packages of Lean Cuisine Asian-Style Pot Stickers were recalled after consumers reported discovering small pieces of plastic in the meals, too.

For questions about the recall, contact Nestlé Consumer Services Center at 1-800-993-8625.

Elaine,
We do not always agree, but I sure do like your style. And on this…All I can say is…Fresh food rules and good grief cooking is not that hard!
the only frozen food we eat, is the produce that we put u p from the garden! Oh and Ice Cream!
Do you find the Lunchable crap as scary as I do? What is going to happen to the generation of Lunchable kids.Talk about future medical costs!!! Hey maybe the economics will prevent these items from taken up the supermarkets. It ticks me off that all this prepared crap has taken over the aisles and the real food is disappearing. I guess that is why are gardens are getting bigger with every season!
Parents do us all a favor and teach your kids nutrition and cooking is a Great family experience…

Hi Jen, I’m totally ok with folk’s who agree/don’t agree with me. Various opinions make the world go round. The only thing I hate is when folk’s attempt to insult others when there is a differing of opinion. But I’ll take your compliment with a thanks! I agree fresh is best and as for the lunchables, EeeeW I wouldn’t give those to my dog…Wait, I don’t have a dog, Ok, then I wouldn’t give them to my cats, let alone my kids. They never ate that stuff. I can only imagine how many so called preservatives those things are packed with. Don’t have a garden at my place here (Town House) but always had a garden at my larger home and loved growing my own vegatables. Also, had a flower garden that I also love, so still only buy fresh vegatables and adorn my home with fresh flowers. :)

Hello Elaine,
I am with you on the agree or not stuff too! My sig is”We Don’t Have To Think Alike, To Love Alike”~Socrates and If you have Kitties, you know they wouldn’t eat that pretend food even if you payed them. One thing that always cracks me up is when buying cat food. There we are in the aisle, along with the other kitty parents trying to figure out what they will eat. Sure enough if you buy them a case of what they just seem to LOve this week, it will be the last thing they’ll ever eat again! Have a great evening.

Jen D - you are so right, BB has to have his treats in the morning but if I buy something that is slightly different (crab instead of shrimp) you’d think I was trying to poison him. But then when I think I have it down just right, his whole routine changes. Of course that is part of why we love them, they are so unpredictable.

OMG Jen are you ever right about that. Trying to find new and exciting cat food is like pulling teeth. I buy top notch for my fur children and you think they care, Pffft, No. Gosh they are a finicky bunch indeed, Sheesh, lol. My one fur daughter Drai, the oldest, is 20 years and still healthy as an ox, but as they get older they lose their sense of smell and taste. So she stopped eating about 3 years ago and was starting to lose weight. I took her to the vet and she checked out healthy otherwise so the vet put her on Science diet and I have been syringe feeding her morning and night for 3 years now. She’s A-OK. But still needs me or hubby to feed her. Which is fine with me I’ll do it forever just to keep her with me. That’s also why I cut back my flying, now doing just a couple of turns a week rather than fly multi-day trips. She is the feline love of my life and has been with me a long time…even has her own swavorski crystal tiara, no joke. They, all 3, are royally spoiled rotten! LOL. Have a great evening too! :)

Now I know why he was laughing! The Jolly Green Giant, that is. Anyone who can stomach those boxed rations, should be checking out the source-contents like a leopard on the prowl. How do the content compare with a fresh tomato (or similar) and some fresh, hard crusty whole grain, or smelt-flour bread?
