Josie! Is that YOUR blog? Please say yes! This is very very very important, because… OMGOMGOMGOMOMFFFFFFFFG IT’S IMMIIIIIII - I WORSHIP IMOGEN HEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s right - hello everybody, my name is Krystina, and I am a Heapaholic. I’ve got ALL her work. She stuns the everliving hell out of me. A true original. …That is all. *ahem* As you were.

Kryssi, this is twice in the last 24 hours that you, and you alone, have given me a fabulous laugh out loug moment. Thanks. I’m also very happy to be introduced to Imogen Heap. So thanks to Josie and to you for a sweeter Saturday than I might have had without you.

Oh you are MORE than welcome! Everyone needs a little Immi in their lives… And in case you haven’t heard/seen it yet, “Hide & Seek” is what started it all (for many; for me it was her prior work as one-half the duo called “Frou Frou”) - I believe H&S to be the most haunting and UNIQUE song in the history of modern music. It’s like an electronic take on “a capella”. Nothing else quite like it exists - it is absolutely perfection and so is she: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cpSv2mNhhc To this DAY, I still get chills during my favorite lyric - “Oily marks appear on walls where pleasure moments hung before the take-over, the sweeping insensitivity of this still life” Oh God. I have taken this thread soooo off-topic I should be BANNED. Sorry everyone. (Edith, see what happens when you wander off!)

Woo-HOOO!! Thank you so much! You’ll forgive me if I see a certain discipl-ette of Laurie Anderson, who has always excited me to smithereens. But as with all worthwhile disciplettes, Imogene Heap goes on to conquer a new world or two. Thanks for letting me spend some time in one of them

Thanks for mentioning Laurie Anderson - I’d never heard her music before! Sheesh, now I feel like an ass; Imogen TOTALLY ripped off Laurie’s style a la “O Superman”… But I do think Imogen has a higher sense of melody/harmony - her songs are catchier, while Laurie’s (what little I could FIND…is she totally obscure or what?) tend to…meander. Still, always good to learn as much as I can of music history/trivia, so thank you! One less artist for me to be ignorant of! (Man, Edith is gonna be all “Whaaaat in the WORLD?!” when she returns to find her blog so off-topic, heehee!)

Hey! It’s not a rip-off. The best influence the best, that’s all. And you’re right. Heap does seem to be a little more grounded in harmony. “Strange Angels” is my favorite Laurie Anderson album. I wish I was better with this machine, but I’ve found “Strange Angels” at Borders. My all-time favorite lyric? “When you see a man who’s broken, pick him up and carry him. And when you see a woman who’s broken, pull her all into your arms. ‘Cause we don’t know where we come from. We don’t know what we are.” Tickled pink to bring Laurie Anderson your way. And thanks again to you for Imogen Heap! Cool! I don’t think Edith would mind. We’re chatting at her party. It’s okay.
