Lisa Marie Presley Expecting Twins

40-year-old princess of pop and husband look forward to a fall delivery

Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of The King, Elvis Presley, announced through her MySpace page in March that she and husband Michael Lockwood are expecting. Yesterday, Lisa Marie’s spokesperson, Cindy Guagenti, announced that the couple is expecting twins.

Grandmother-to-be Priscilla Presley originally made the surprise announcement on TV’s "Entertainment Tonight" on Tuesday.

Lisa Marie is mother to two children from former husband Danny Keough. She has also been wed to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage. She married her current husband in December of 2006.

Everyone is having twins, are they all getting help from the doctors in getting pregnant?

The chance of twins increases with the age of the mother and most of the women celebrities are having them late.

Is it something in the water out there? Congratulations to Lisa Marie and Michael. I kinda suspected another little one would be on the way when Lisa said in an interview that her kids were growing up and all she knew was being a mother. The way it was said made me think she really wants another little one to raise. Now, there will be two! And those genes. What beautiful children Lisa Marie makes.

I recently heard a doctor say that the reason he thought all these celebs are having twins is because the older you are having babies, the more likely you are to have twins. Anything to that?
I have a friend who has 3 daughters. One daughter has 1 set and a daughter has 2 sets. They were at the normal age when they had them and it was a natural occurance.

There is a recent (2006) Dutch study indicating that older women may release release more eggs during a cycle than a younger woman. But, I have wondered about the many having a boy and a girl twins. I said something to my husband about it before National Enquirer’s article about IVF. Could just be nature. Although Lisa Marie’s father was a twin, the propensity to have twins would have come from Pricilla and I don’t think Pricilla or her mother had twins. My dad was a twin and his twin sister had twins which were also a boy and girl. The girl did not have any children. The boy had children but no twins because, as you probably know, Diana, the woman is the one who determines if twins will be born by releasing more than one egg. Men always release multiple sperm (unless medically unable to)

Well, since they are having boy girl twins the idea of older women having twins fits because identical twins come from one egg. However, IVF also fits because most IVF multiples are not identical.

Yep, siasp, you are right. Identical twins from one egg that splits. Two eggs equal fraternal twins, could be boy and girl, girl and girl or boy and boy. Just wondered about all the celeb’s having multiples which are boy and girl, ie Jennifer Lopez, Dennis Quaid’s twins by a surrogate, Marcia Cross, Brangelina. Angelina said in People mag. that if they had used help with contraception they wouldn’t have had a problem discussing it. Probably all the multiples just coincidence.

Whatever it is, it sure is a baby boom out there. Of course, one thing to think about is that they are at the age when women’s time clocks start going off, and it’s now or never time. I’m sure if we think about it, it’s nothing new under the sun. I remember when Debbie Reynolds, Tony Curtis, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Lucille Ball were all having little ones. There was the same thing going on, but I think that now there is just so much more publicity about it.

Remember , Diana, when Jerry Lewis kept trying for a girl, each time a boy appeared. Except for in his later years he did get the girl.
I cant remember how many boys he has.

Jerry Lewis had 6 sons. Then, did he not have a daughter by his second marriage? When he was an older guy? I seem to remember him on Larry King talking about how it felt to have a baby at that age.

Yes , Jerry had a girl with second or third (?) marriage. Can’t keep up with the nuptials, not that I want to.

No wonder she is having twins, twins run in the family. Elvis Presley was a twin. His identical twin brother, Jesse Garon, died was stillborn. How sweet it would have been to have two Elvis type voices.
