What’s new in my life? WOW I have a brand new electric tea pot that boils water under two minutes. That’s like the equivalent of a race car going from 0 to 180 in ten seconds! Alright, I don’t know what the awesomess factor of acceleration is for race cars is, okay. But, you get my drift, eh? This tea pot is like, amazing. I’m trying to be really upbeat about this. I love tea. The mornings without my 2 cups of tea, with two, just barely rounded teaspoons of sugar, and 1 rounded tsp. of powdered skim milk, are just not right. However, there are two tea pots out on my deck, speckeld and scorched with brown because, the first one…I did’t hear the whistle; and the second, my husband had made the first cup of tea, and after he went to work, I put the kettle on, which I could tell by weight, had more than enough water in it for another cup, closing the whistle as I did so. What I didn’t notice, was the lid was not on tight enough, allowing the water to evaporate, but not blow the whistle. I knew what that pungent/acrid smell was as soon is it assaulted my nostrils. Conclusion of these little fiascos, was my new spiffy tea pot, that does not whistle, which I miss, a lot. Knowing my hearing has been in decline, is not knew, as my family will quickly attest to. This is one more thing to convince me I have to make adjustments to this change. So be it. I have a new spiffy teapot, and maybe two new matching teapot planters.

How do you keep up, Liz? Especially when the youngsters keep changing their names (e.g., Sean John Combs aka Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy)!

Liz Smith — hope you saw my writing about Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the Sunday NYT Magazine as he is a real actor and I am going to tout him as much as I can. All these flash-in-the-pan youngsters are just fodder for news, and I know you - like I - remember the good old days when there were stars that were lasting and wonderful. Now only a handful are around — and they just don’t get the coverage unless they are handsome, scandalous, or worse. Give me Hoffman ever day — you would have been proud of me to see that he got coverage that he deserves!
