Caroline Kennedy for President? She's Got the Name, Brains and Looks

Liz Smith
With her name and her money she can pretty much do anything she likes, so why wouldn’t she go for broke? She could be the "other" Kennedy to attain the White House in the next few years if she puts her mind to it. She has no scandals, she has a husband and children, she could put together the apparatus.

She has already been mentioned as a possible vice-presidential choice by Obama, though I think that’s far-fetched. She has no executive experience. But she’s great-looking, well-financed, well-educated and natively smart and has those historical antecedents. If she wants, she might well become the first woman president.

Liz,
I just don’t think it’s gonna happen. She has the smarts, to be sure, but I don’t think she has the fire in the belly to become the leader of the free world.

Diana, Totally agree. I stood 15 feet from her at an event for two hours and observed her carefully. My impression is that I will take a vow of silence and join a cloistered nunnery before she glad-hands strangers, kisses babies or eats greasy concession food at endless Country Fairs while criss-crossing the country. She seems frail in person, with no force whatsoever in her persona, like a person you could push-over with one finger. Sweet but introverted to the max.

If she changed her mind, or developed cojones, I’d sign up in a heart beat.

Diana and Winery, I agree. I don’t think she would want to be in that type of leadership position. She may be ready to become more involved in the political process and a bit more visable, but running for office, especially high office, seems contrary to her personality and life goals.

Exactly my thinking, Winery. She was well taught by her mom; also, can any of us possibly empathize with how much perhaps she has loathed cameras in her face since she was a baby? And, her mom taught her the value of protecting one’s space as well as possible under the circumstances. Caroline is a behind-the-scenes person if ever I saw one.
Are we as a nation, so eager to seek and find talent and intelligence in one package of a person that we immediately elevate him/her to be our president? Obviously, not everyone has the grit to endure the walk on fire to get there or the temperment to be there if they get there…

Caroline Kennedy-Schlossberg is young enough to begin a political career to test her skills….governor, senator….before going for the whole enchiladea but then we would lose her from what she does best: supporting the arts and education. National Endowment for the Arts, perhaps?

Or requiring Texans to spell correctly the word ‘enchilada’ without splitting their infinitives. That’s always so embarrassing.

Agreed, Caroline,
She is a NEA-type of person to be sure. That is how she was raised; to value her privacy and to be involved in the arts and literature.

Yes, I would vote for Caroline Kennedy to be President in a heart beat! Hopefully Senator Obama will select her as his VP which would put in her play for 2016… Go Caroline!

Well, there is the obvious. Kennedys running for President or actually becoming President in our country has shown to be very dangerous. Of course, I would like to think that we live in a different world now but all it takes is one nut to get through the security lines and it could be history repeating itself. If I were Caroline, I would certainly take all of this into consideration before putting herself out there. In a way, it could already be seen in her silence with the public.
