Liz Smith's Belief System

Liz Smith

Of course not. Nor do I believe in vampires, witches, imps, devils or angels. And no, I have not felt otherworldly presences nor do I want to. Out of body? Don’t I wish! I would love to be invisible at times also. But, no chance.

Liz, in the main posting section, I listened an experience that defies scientific explanation, and leaves me absolutely certain, beyond a doubt, of the supernatural. Because it happened to me. And the Bible speaks of such things, as well. An answering machine went off from inside of a closed drawer, unplugged, no battery compartment, and wouldn’t go off until I played it. And it was right after I screamed out at Jesus Christ following the death of my beloved girlfriend. As for angels, I had an experience that may’ve been me simply dreaming. I had worked the overnight news-anchor shift at WOWF in Detroit, and then did some in-studio reporting during the morning shift. I was really tired, and driving home on the Reuther Freeway in Detroit in heavy traffic. All of a sudden, I heard a soft, female voice say, “Jim!” I opened my eyes and realized I was about 2 miles down the road from where I’d last remember being awake, and still in bumper-to-bumper freeway traffic! Now, that may’ve been me simply nodding off and imagining the voice or whatever. But it’s amazing that I’d somehow kept the car in the correct lane in four-lane, heavy traffic while I was sleeping for half a minute or whatever. Nowadays, I’d pull off the road if I felt the least bit groggy.

It may not be a “ghost story”, but it’s something that happened that defies explanation. It’s been a source of strength for me for years, and I can’t tell you how much strength it gave me at the time.
