Liz Smith

Standing up straight. It is my ongoing life-long struggle. I love people who stand tall.

Think it’s time to take the captioners out for a drink.

I’m thinking the people who write the captions need to lay off the two martini lunches.  Talk about LOL!  I’ve been doing nothing but since reading this caption and then the article.  There was another one recently that I couldn’t make heads or tails out of, the way it was worded.

That caption made me laugh. Sounds like a commerical for Gay-Off…”Do you struggle to be straight? No matter how hard you try do you find yourself creeping back for another yummy bite of…..”

Hey, Liz. I’m sure you know this, but just in case it might helpful… Standing up straight starts with sitting up straight. And belive it or not, the best support you have for your lower spine are your lower abdominal muscles. So leg lifts can do as much for your posture as anything else, really. I heard Kitty Carlisle say in one interview that every morning she’d lay on her back and lift her legs up over her head. And who could have been more statuesqe than Ms. Carlisle?. A person can get into some really bad habits working at a desk all the time. So working your lower abs isometrically when you’re sitting at the computer, or even in a restaurant, might make it much easier to stand tall when you do finally walk away..

Liz, I feel your pain…I’m slouching as I type! But keep up the good fight. You look fabulous.

What’s really important is that you can still stand.
