Loud-Mouth-and-Loose-Lipped Palin Owes Obama an Apology for This One, by Margo Howard

Editor’s Note: A longtime journalist, Margo Howard went into the family business (her mother was the fabled Ann Landers) in the 1990s as Dear Prudence. Her broad experience and understanding of human nature provide answers for the troubled — and entertainment for everyone else. Click here to read her column on Yahoo!

I really thought I was done talking about Sarah Palin, but life is what happens when you’re making other plans. I wish there were a word that was a cross between "appalled" and "nauseated," because that’s what the lady’s latest outburst has me feeling. Saturday evening Drudge picked up a Breitbart story where the headline was: "Palin says Obama ‘palling around’ with terrorists." As if this weren’t bad enough, she went on to tell whatever group she was addressing: "This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America." Well, I’ll tell you what I see: a loud-mouth, loose-lipped nobody who is drunk on media attention and a quart low in the judgment department. I think both she and her aged "maverick" buddy owe Mr. Obama an apology for this one.

To live on the same street and to have served on a board with Billy Ayers, part of the Weather Underground when Obama was in grade school and now a professor, is not my idea of "palling around with." I think this hockey mom/moose skinner fits perfectly into the class war she is helping perpetuate, even though she has none.

It would have far more factual validity for Obama, or a surrogate, to publicize the fact that Track, the kid who joined the Army, did so because a judge told him it was that or jail due to his dealing drugs. I have a strong hunch, however, the Obama people would never get into that. Up until now the lady has annoyed me because of her ignorance and arrogance, but now I am furious, especially when her headline-making remark from yesterday was that Obama was not "fit" to be commander-in chief. I think the McCain people better lock the lady up again and tell her to zip it, because she is not fit to even ad-lib.

Patty, I knew I should have saved the bookmark … google Wasilla, Alaska … 3rd or 4th entry is ‘city info’ or something (I do so hate confirming stereotypical blonde behaviour.) Anyway, it’s a good look at the number of foreclosures in Wasilla … 79 in the month of September. Thanks for the post, am e-mailing friends with the news. k

Her ego is again exceeding her intellect. We’ve now established that she can read… but elects not to do so past the headline and first paragraph of any article. Her coaches don’t seem to be able to anticipate her erratic behavior or they’ve tuned out because of Senator McCains similar problem. He won’t listen to anyone either. I’m now convinced that they want her out there are a loose cannon… saying whatever she wants… and whatever Senator McCain knows he can’t get away with… so they can write it off as her “inexperience”. Senator McCain is a coward and has apparently decided that he can take cover behind a woman. Yesterday she made some pointed remarks about the lack of support from women. Of course the possibility that it hadn’t been earned, wasn’t the issue. Fortunately she hasn’t gained back all of her prior support. It would appear that some of the “stars” have clouded over on her prior supporters.

Mary: Her ego is again exceeding her intellect. That is true of all politicians, and Obama in particular. Certainly Biden.

I was thinking along the lines of Kindergarten playground. I wish we’d all calm down and share our views, instead of shoving them down each others’ throats. And who knows, with the antagonism set aside, we might even learn something. As a group, we’re getting b*tchier and b*tchier with each passing day.

Thank you for your post as you are 100% correct. As a Christian, I am outraged by this woman, who claims to be a Christian, but who is blatantly lying, i.e. “Bearing False Witness”. She is “murdering” a fellow Christians reputation, in the hopes of “aborting” his life’s reputation with nothing but lies, and more lies and the woman does it with such zeal and joy! It is Vile! She is so happy and perky about being chose for the role of “verbal assassin” ! And yet you claim to be against abortion! Please Missy Sarah, just do those of us who honor the Judeo/Christian faith a favor and stop claiming you are a Christian as you uphold neither the sacredness of the Jewish law nor the Christian law of Love. These politicians who “use” their claims of faith to get elected are nauseating. To BE is to DO and what they are doing is called evil! Sarah is John Mc’s mirror and it is a terrifying reflection! Indeed, God Bless America and save us and the planet from Sarah and John!!!!

Drivel. Makes no difference since Christians, Jews, Sikhs, and every other religious group are made up of humans. Politicians are crooks and will use anything and everything at their disposal to get more power. Remember that, and then what they say at any given time is actually meaningless. There is no evil, there is only seeking the easiest pathway to succeeding at your task. Either you throw in compassion for living beings, or you leave it out.

Dear John: Sounds like you are bright green down to your big toe. “Politicians are crooks”–––what they say at any given time “is actually meaningless”–––”there is no evil”–––???? If I really believed this I’d have holed up in some godforsaken part of the world and forged for my own food, sung my own songs and followed my own rules and probably would have died trying. Maybe I’m again not understanding what you are saying, but jaded is what I’m reading.

Hi phyllis. My statement stands on its own. I’m not jaded, I’m quite cynical (definitely #1 below, and a bit of 2 and 3)* (and brutally honest, in my opinion, and my opinions! ;-}). *Wicki: Cynicism (Greek: Kυνισμός) originally comprised the various philosophies of a group of ancient Greeks called the Cynics, founded by Antisthenes in about the 4th century BC.[1] The Cynics rejected all conventions, whether of religion, manners, housing, dress, or decency, advocating the pursuit of virtue in a simple and unmaterialistic lifestyle.[1]. In pop culture, the word cynicism generally describes the opinions of those who see self-interest as the primary motive of human behaviour, and who disincline to rely upon sincerity, human virtue, or altruism as motivations.[2] On the other hand, the Oxford English Dictionary suggests as the usual modern definition (per cynic): showing “a disposition to disbelieve in the sincerity or goodness of human motives and actions” and a tendency “to express this by sneers and sarcasms”.

John, I see where you’re coming from, I have a “bit” of the cynic in me, but I think when it comes to politics I think we need to let go a little bit. I am a political junkie, been interested in it all my life. I admire some of these bright young people who decide to run for local office, state office and then ultimately the few who run for national office. Are some of them in it on a total ego trip, power hungry, narcissistic .. the cynic in me says absolutely. But are there a few John Adams out there ? There must be… I love my country and really want the best for her, I believe in the values our Constitution was founded on, yes, but I never put my money where my mouth is and actually did something to keep it that way. I admire someone who actually does, especially someone who is really SMART, who could earn piles of money elsewhere without putting up with the bullshit you have to go through to get elected. Here’s why I think we have to let go of some of the cynicism …. are you aware of the level of ignorance out there on Main Street, how uninformed and clueless the average voter is ? I mean, I have friends, otherwise nice people, who don’t read the newspaper, don’t read books, watch re runs of “leave it to Beaver” on TV and get their news from Fox alone. They are totally clueless about the major issues of the day, they literally ARE a soccer mom and Joe six pack. How in the world does a legitimate candidate reach someone like that ? THEY are the people that these ridiculous adds are geared to. The BEST, most sincere, altruistic candidate MUST deal on that level in order to get elected, and then do the good things that they want to do to save this country. I AM cynical about the PROCESS, but not about all candidates. Did I crack your veneer of cynicism a little ?

Talk to me later son when these politicians you so love and believe in have raped you and yours and then we wil talk about the reality of evil. Til then, sonny rejoice in your denial.
