The financial loss for one of Bernard Madoff’s clients may have been too much to bear.

Rene-Thierry Magon de La Villehuchet, the founder of a hedge fund that invested more than a billion dollars with Madoff, was found dead in his Manhattan office this morning in an apparent suicide, according to a French newspaper reported by the Associated Press. De la Villehuchet, 65, was a co-founder and chief executive officer of Access International Advisors, LLC, according to private marketing document reported on Bloomberg.com.

Access International reportedly invested $1.4 billion with Madoff, who was arrested on December 11 for allegedly running a $50 billion Ponzi scheme.

…apparent suicide,… Why do I get suspicious about ‘apparent suicides’? I’ve been expecting some to flow out of Chicago, but so far things haven’t gotten too out of hand, although Blagojovitch keeps insisting he will remain governor until he takes his last breath (paraphrased). I feel a little chill every time I hear him say that.

Because you ARE suspicious…..and that might just be another word for curious……and I value your curiosity and your willingness to share it….. Naive to a fault, I never suspected/expected, nor was curious about suicides in these current instances……..but I did make note of Blagojevich and his insistence about how he was “dying to tell”…Like someone who says “I love her to death but…..” this is dangerous language from someone who has a history of abusing people…………I mean, language doesn’t go for naught……..Cheney says “so”? So what, all y’all?…..This is a big SO WHAT? Like y’all are too stupid to understand “SO”? That’s like he’s telling us “DUH”….. And so when Obama gets “faulted” for a thoughtful pause, looking for the right word…….uh…uh…..maybe he’s trying to get it right…….This is all we have…this language……Thank your for your suspicious curiosity……..

georgia: “dying to tell”… Yeah, that’s another of his oft repeated phrases. With Rezko singing high and clear to save his stumpy soul, and Rahm lurking about… it’s all Shakespearean, I’d say.

well, a bit of surfing will show the man was in the ‘Main-suicide-age’ for either rich, poor, healthy, sick’ situations—-global suicide rates have been rising for over a decade, particularly for males, and he was at the top of the ‘bell-shaped-curve’—-so such is not unusual—-it’s known ‘suicide-rates’ are near certainly Under-reported, attributed to accident, etc. As ‘mood’ is usually the source of such, and to spite Big Pharma BS, not understood (more die from scripted drug ODs than all ‘street-drug’ accidents)—-i feel your suspicions tenuous and bereft of understanding—- people ‘self-destruct’ when Life seems overwhelming—-the cause may be ‘endogenous’ (the founder of Kodak, when told he was going to die, just went home and shot himself—-that’s endogenous, situational), or it may be hormones gone awry, as with classic depression—-in either case Life simply becomes the ‘fate-worse-than-death’—-if you were Dutch, and simply tired of living, if two drs. agree? they ‘put-you-down’, painlessly—-if you’ve never experienced a period of life where you just wish you would never awake? i feel it best to say, ‘there, but for you go i’.

Yep—people will self-destruct when there seems not out for them, no way to come to terms with the horror of the loss.

it’s the survivors that suffer—-they should have more faith in Life’s efficacy—-but then, when my sister died i cried for days—-when i get around to it i may show you some very surprising ‘proofs’—-

Buddy, you read my mind! When the news hit, I emailed my sister and said here is #1. I mean, how would it feel to know you’ve lost a billion, most of which is another person’s money? How would it feel unless you are like Madoff and a financial sociopath….

If there is a way for Madoff to be charged for this too, I hope the criminal justice system finds a way.

Just let him loose in the prison population but he’ll probably wind up in a white collar jail.

Sad, sad, sad. I don’t want to know what the next move will be.

I think this whole mess is so sad and what I find to be the saddest is that so many lives have been ruined and at the same time, this man felt that his life was no longer of value apart from his money.

I think there was probably more to it than just his money: possibly his family will suffer, he may be out on the strett etc. There are many reasons that people commit suicide—very many.
