Are Madonna and A-Rod 'Just Friends'?: Liz Smith Dishes (Video)

"I can tell you this … I have never been on a plane with her," Alex Rodriguez said in response to reports that he and Madonna have been flying around together. Find out what I think they’ve really been up to.

Are the pop queen and Yankees slugger really "just friends"? Isn’t that what Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie said when they described their relationship while making "Mr. & Mrs. Smith"? And why is Madonna’s love life similiar to that of the late, dazzling dame Lana Turner? Watch me on Fox News to find all this out and more:

I wonder which has more money? Ha! A-Rod’s the highest-paid player in the major leagues ($28 million per year, last I checked). But the third baseman doesn’t get along with the guy he plays next to, shortstop Derek Jeter. That says a lot about A-Rod’s character. Jeter’s a class act.

Of course their just friends now and feeling each other out. In the future they can change that story from friends to something else. Time will tell us which way the story goes.

Well, from up here in Red Sox Nation, we refer to him as A-Fraud. The man is poison and the Yankees will never win a world series as long as he is on the team ( Babe Ruth anyone ? ) A-Fraud and Madonna ? They deserve each other … and yes, she will drop him like a fly ball in the sun when she is thru with him !! And, he plays like a girl. sorry, girls

How much snow did you get in Chicago, DeB’? 7.8 in Lansing, 14 north of G.R. Clear out right now. I’m going to the Red Wings’ game in Detroit tonight (hockey).

It’s snowing and very messy outside but not a lot of accumulation yet, maybe 3 or 4 inches.

Thanks, DeB’! Had a blast - the Red Wings were down, 4-3, with about 4 minutes left, but scored three (!) goals in the last minutes to win, 6-4. Detroit is the defending Stanley Cup champion, and won 4 NHL titles since 1997. The ride home to G.R.(140 miles) wasn’t so fun. A white-knuckle drive west of Lansing, as I ran into the lake-effect snows. West Michigan, as you know, gets absolutely hammered by lake-effect. Same thing on Sunday: a blizzard in Muskegon, G.R., Holland, etc. 27 inches on the ground now in some areas, and drifts like I haven’t seen since Jan. 26, 1978 - the legendary storm. When I got home at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday night (Sunday morning, technically), I had to park in the street, because my drive was snowed over with three feet of snow and ice. Even with a snowblower, it took me two hours to clear the driveway. When I got up the next morning, it was snowed over. During halftime of the football game, I went to Walgreen’s. Came back 20 minutes later and all of the snow I’d just shoveled away, had drifted back in three feet. I got out the roof rake in the backyard, and the snow was up to my waist (I’m 5’10”). Took me 45 minutes to get snow off the patio, shed and garage roofs. My driveway’s snowed in this morning again. Cheers.

P.S. You probably heard: there were two multi-car pileups, one on I-94 near Benton Harbor that involved 30 vehicles, 12 semi’s and a fatality. I-196 west of Zeeland was also shut down because of a pileup, including a trooper who was taken to the hospital.

Wow! You guys got a lot of snow! We… not so much, maybe 6”… but yesterday was the coldest day in my memory. Not only was the temperature cold (dropped to -8 in the a.m. hours of Sunday, that is actual temp NOT the wind chill) but the wind was so strong all day it looked like fog with powder snow blowing sideways. When I was driving I though my car was going to lift off the ground. My daughter gave the perfect description of the cold, she said she was outside for just a couple minutes and her eyeballs felt like they were freezing! I got a flat tire yesterday which my husband changed with frozen hands but since I am driving on the donut spare I have to take the tire in and have it fixed and put back on today. Not something I want to be doing this close to Christmas, but I suppose it’s better than having it happen on Christmas Eve. I wonder if the cold had anything to do with the tire.

No, DeB’, the cold has nothing to do with the tire deflating. More likely, you hit a sharp chunk of ice or another object. Yeah, we were 2 below zero, with wind chills at 30 below. It’s warmed up to 18 today, and only an inch of snow. Winds have died down to about 20 mph, which is still gusty, but nothing like yesterday. Of course, I’m in wimpy Lansing today, away from Lake Michigan. They got one inch of snow here over the weekend. They don’t even know what winter’s like in Lansing. Drive safely on that doughnut tire, DeB’. They’re really not designed to be driven more than a very short distance. The left-front tire is your most critical tire, because if that goes, it’ll throw you right out into oncoming traffic. Never drive a donut on that tire.

Funny you mention that… it’s my left front tire. The mechanic was so busy I had to drop the tire off to be repaired and I am just about to leave now to have it put back on. I haven’t driven much on it, like you said, it doesn’t feel safe. We are only supposed to get up to 7 degrees today. But tomorrow we trade the bitter cold for more reasonable temps (in the 20s) but we’re also supposed to get between 7” - 12” of snow from Tuesday through Wednesday. Christmas Eve driving will probably be a pain, but I’ll take the snow over the bitter cold any day.
