Madonna's Brother Dishes on New Book

Christopher Ciccone is obviously far less known than his superstar sister, Madonna, but he’s trying to perhaps step out of his sibling’s shadow.
Ciccone told the New York Observer, whose reporter ran into him outside a wine bar in New York’s West Village recently, that there are “plenty of things” he left out of his book, Life with My Sister Madonna — mainly because the lawyers and editors perhaps didn’t think them quite appropriate. And he said “watching her squirm” over its contents is a “guilty pleasure of his.”
Ciccone fought the literary experts hardest over the title of the book. “I wanted it to be called The Queen and I,” he told the Observer. “They said it was too snarky. I still don’t know what that word means.”
Ciccone, flying to various parts of the world doing press for his new book and working on a “totally raw” design-based reality show as well as another book about his own sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll period, said he doesn’t really care about Guy Ritchie, Madonna’s husband. In fact, “I see him as a distraction.” In the book, Ciccone describes an incident at a nightclub in which he breaks up a fight between one of his own gay pals, who had been sexy-dancing with the "Queen," and Ritchie.
Ciccone, who for years designed the look of Madonna’s concerts and mansion palaces and now lives in Los Angeles, said that his sister responded to news that a book was in the works with a frantic e-mail that read, “Call me.”
But he apparently didn’t respond.
“Hello? I don’t respond to commands anymore,” he said. She then apparently called their father who, Ciccone said, apparently didn’t respond either.
When asked if writing the book was like removing a giant weight from his shoulders, Ciccone said: “Therapy I already had; this was pure sex.”
WowOwow.com’s own Liz Smith recently went through Ciccone’s book, essentially concluding it’s all hype, not much substance.
“The sad thing about this book is that it is so … boring,” Liz wrote in her recent post. “There are no shocking revelations within. Christopher wanted the world to know his sister is manipulative and stingy and an egomaniac. She embellishes the truth. She can be ruthless. She has had more than her share of lovers. The surprise is … what?"
