Margo Howard: Cindy McCain Should Dump the 'Old Goat'

The missus has been to hell and back with ol’ John, and enough is enough!

Editor’s Note: A longtime journalist, Margo Howard went into the family business (her mother was the fabled Ann Landers) in the 1990s as Dear Prudence. Her broad experience and understanding of human nature provide answers for the troubled — and entertainment for everyone else. Click here to read her column on Yahoo! Margo will be joining us as wowOwow’s official advice columnist beginning January 29. We can’t wait!

Page Six reports that Cindy McCain nearly became a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars" — but the idea was nixed by John McCain, which they describe as "an even worse decision" than choosing Sarah Palin for his running mate.

"Our impeccably placed source says, ‘Just before Thanksgiving, Cindy McCain started talks with producers to appear as a dancer on the show. She wanted to do it very badly,’" the paper reports. "But this week, Sen. McCain ‘put the kibosh on it.’"

Well, you know what? I think she oughta take her considerable fortune, dump him and do what she pleases. “Dancing with the Stars” is not my idea of fun, but if it is hers, why the hell not? This woman tromped all over hell and went  to campaign with her husband. I don’t think she was anywhere near the equal partner that Michelle Obama was, but she was there because McCain needed to have a wife there.

Without reviewing some of Mr. McCain’s rather public and well-documented put-downs aimed at Mrs. McCain, it is fair to stipulate that they lead different lives in opposite parts of the country. Why is she even asking him what she can and can’t do? While it is true that one never knows what anyone else’s marriage is really like, I have a pretty good idea that this one is not one of the better ones. Not that she asked, but Cindy McCain should put her foot down. (Always a good start for dancing.) Why does she feel so under his thumb? The money is hers, she is 17 years junior to the old goat and quite good-looking – even if her face does not move.

It’s not too late, Cindy, to have a life, or even to be on TV as something other than the silent spouse.

Do you really think Cindy McCain is going to seek marital advice from someone who has been married four times?

That’s for sure, Cindy Lou already has a system that works for her…she steals other woman’s husbands…

Well Margo, My sister beats you by one marriage, and she feels the same way. She has an interesting perspective about men, but now she is asking me how does one stay married? I told her that her method seems like more fun, like trying on great clothes. Only one of her divorces was unpleasant because she has a way of being level and civil and taking the rancor out. All I can say is, here we go again. You know how to give us a good weekend thread. LOL

I can’t imagine being married to the guy… but as far as going on “Dancing With the Stars” what a horrible idea. Talk about lowering her credibility, and his. It brings to mind Linda McCartney. Next will be Palin. Although at this point, it won’t matter with her cred.
