Margo Howard: Will Sarah Palin Become the Next Jerry Springer?

Editor’s Note: A longtime journalist, Margo Howard went into the family business (her mother was the fabled Ann Landers) in the 1990s as Dear Prudence. Her broad experience and understanding of human nature provide answers for the troubled — and entertainment for everyone else. Click here to read her column on Yahoo!

(Another) Thought About Sarah Palin

It’s just a guess, but ‘seems to me,
That Sarah will not be VP.
I think, instead, her newfound fame
Will put her in a brand new game.

She seems quite right to host a show
Where facts aren’t things you need to know.
But, rather, she can effervesce
And help us all to retrogress

And tell us she’s in no way odd,
That all her views have come from God.
I think TV’s her perfect place
Because she is so in-your-face.

She doesn’t seem the Oprah type
Though heaven knows, there’s lots of hype;
I think the thing that fate will bring ‘er
Is to be  … a Jerry Springer.

katywon LA..
She’s too folksy to be popular on television or radio. She reminds me of the hero in the old movie, ” A FACE IN THE CROWD.” I bet she rises up to disappear. Unless perhaps she uses her common folk speech and there is a market for hockey moms. Better off taking care of her children in a state where the stats on Alcoholism and drugs and murder are higher than some of the bigger states. Mom is needed..She could stay being governor and with a good husband manage very well.

That’s has happened to her, if you were up to speed, she talked about her family, and there struggles. Drink more Kool-aid , things will be better in the morning.

Up to speed? Did she give a press conference and we missed it? Darn it! Cause I really keep an eye out for those, so I can find out something about her, cause ya know she could be president. Who is she? Who is that witch doctor laying hands on her? Did she have witches? Was she possessed? What about this Alaska Secessionist party Todd belonged to? I can’t believe she talked to the press and I missed it! What did she say about the witch doctor?

AVC, if you were up to speed you would know that Lily is one of our most respected posters and never touches that childish drink. So, you drink whatever you like and enjoy but I know for a fact that Lily only touches “the good stuff”.

And what’s with all this I keep reading about KOOL AID anyway? A regular laugh riot with this colorful little reference! Have you noticed that nobody has the courage to name an actual FLAVOR?? What do you think WowSister Agyness….sour grape? beebleberry? ****sigh**** Is it too much to ask for a little specificity mixed in with the flames?

;-}

Well, speaking to specificity my dear countrywoman, I hear that hot new flavor called “Gorilla Grape” is all the rage with the youngsters, tweens and even the college set. Hear the campus crowd even mixes it with vodka to produce a heavenly “punch” they call Gorilla Grapple. Heaven to betsy, what will they think of next….dear me.

lily, i was going to say or she could get a job, but she has a job: she just doesn’t do it.

Alaska is such a small state, the governor’s job is less than part time. The state legislature only meets for a few months each year. So the governor can afford to have a few extra jobs, like raising a family and working part time in the family fishing business and regular moose hunting. I mean the population of Alaska is about the same as San Francisco’s, with a whole lot less activity because there is less tourism. I really hope we don’t hear much from her at all after November 4th.

Well said, Mary Lou. Too many politicians get caught up in the fund raising and self promotion part and forget the rest of the job!

Lily: I hope she returns to Alaska to become unemployed, lose her health insurance and her home. You are just too sweet. If not elected, Gov. Palin will return to Alaska with her family and finish her term as governor. McCain will return to the Senate. If not elected, the two Senators, Biden and Obama will return to their jobs in the Senate. Nothing has to be ugly about it. We don’t need to wish them harm.

Wow Ms. C……statements of fact about Obama and Biden?? A sarcastic rebuke about a negative comment? Now I am really confused.

I just viewed this video: It’s an exchange between Chris Mathews and Michelle Bauchman (Rep. Rep. from Minn.) If this isn’t scary stuff, I don’t know what is. To think this woman is a member of Congress makes me sick!!! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/17/gop-rep-channels-mccarthy_n_135…

Phyllis: go to Huffington —there is a petition to have her censured in the congress—this is MacCarthyism at it’s worst.

Thanks, Frank for alerting me. I signed the censure and left a message. Please everyone, do the same if what you see and hear disturbs you as much as it did Frank and me.
