Margo Howard: Will Sarah Palin Become the Next Jerry Springer?

Editor’s Note: A longtime journalist, Margo Howard went into the family business (her mother was the fabled Ann Landers) in the 1990s as Dear Prudence. (Another) Thought About Sarah Palin

It’s just a guess, but ‘seems to me,
That Sarah will not be VP.
I think, instead, her newfound fame
Will put her in a brand new game.

She seems quite right to host a show
Where facts aren’t things you need to know.
But, rather, she can effervesce
And help us all to retrogress

And tell us she’s in no way odd,
That all her views have come from God.
I think TV’s her perfect place
Because she is so in-your-face.

She doesn’t seem the Oprah type
Though heaven knows, there’s lots of hype;
I think the thing that fate will bring ‘er
Is to be  … a Jerry Springer.

Thanks for the link. Michelle Bachmann is one of the meanest and most hateful members of our government. I can’t imagine anyone ever actually listening to her and then casting a vote for her. A truly terrible person.

There is a woman named Margo Howard and with paper and pen, she is high powered Her poem made me think about that woman in pink …and then suddenly, the only thing I could do was drink. Thank you Margo! I love it!

OMG, when they asked on that other thread with the etceterist about what she will do next and I picked female Jerry Springer. I guess it is meant to be. Glad I never watched the show. They used to have it on in the lunch room where I worked part time. Looked like Palin atmosphere.

Sadly I think this insults Jerry Springer. After all, the man did start out as a campaign aide to Robert Kennedy until the assassination and worked as a lawyer after that. Springer’s parents were Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany. I know his show is crazy, but after his failure to get elected to office on his own, and after the harrowing experiences in his past, maybe he needed something light. As for Sarah Palin, let her hire her own career counselor. Maybe she will go along with the secession of Alaska her husband wants and become Queen of Alaska? Then she could run a country as well as a talk show, if she felt so inclined. Or she could raise her family and let her husband support the family for a while.

I do not like the “springer” show at all… but, I agree with you Elizabeth. Also as far as Queen of Alaska! The poor animals….!!!! If they all had a vote she’d be set out in the woods, and chased down by a helicopter! I think she ought to at least apologize over International Television. to all the critters she has ever killed, maimed, scared, abused, or hunted.

I never heard of her before the campaign, and hope I never have to hear of her again!

Sarah would be a good conservative talk-show host, without a doubt. I may not agree with much of what she says, but she’d be great with Rush and the other far-righters.

And I believe just that she’ll be, James. As well as reading up as much as her type can on everything she couldn’t answer in this election. I do feel that she’s got a taste of power and has her eyes on the prize now that she’s been in the limelight of her contentious right-wingers. She won’t stop at Governor of AK. I’m almost certain of it.

It’s too bad that Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm was Canadian-born and cannot seek the highest office. I believe she’d be a much better choice. Cheers…and thanks for writing. Hope all is dandy on the homefront.

There is no question in my mind that Palin is looking beyond the Pres election. Quite frankly I don’t think she really cares about electing McCain but promoting herself and her family. So yes, unless put in jail for abuse of her position as govenor of Alaska, including the alleged bldg of her $500,000 home on a lake, etc. by husband Todd’s friends. I don’t know but from reports it seems that these contractors were not all his buddies. This needs to be investigated. The apparent conflict of interest in a government entity at the State level screams for intervention!!!!!!!!!!!! Why is this not happening? If she were a minority-be very, very sure that it would be an issue. The extreme bias now makes me sick. Reallly sick. The right to vote is a personal responsibility that I have embraced since 18 years old. Voting at the Presidential and local levels is sacred to me. Too many before shed their blood for MY right to vote. I take it seriously. Do you? Or is it just a blog, blog, chat, rap. Again it sickens me that Repbulicans at the State and local levels are doing all within their power to prevent African Americans and other minorities to be able to vote in their State and localities. If this crap happens, this time… This election MUST be supended until the guility are in jail and “truly free elections” can resume. The USA intervenes into the political elections all over the world when we choose too. In 2008, the USA needs to know the world is watching the leader of the free world. This election is way too important for business as usual in America. I won’t stand for the usual BS this time. Hear it, know it.
