Marlo Thomas Was Fine … Until the Geese

Marlo Thomas
I really never paid too much attention to flight instructions in the past, but I will now. The bad part is that with all the traveling I do, I’d finally come to grips with my former white-knuckle fears. I realized that not a lot of planes crash, and that pilots often have military experience. So I sort of overcame my fear of flying. But adding geese to the equation has set me back a bit.

Yeah, what’s good for the goose is not good for the (Michi)gander. That would freak me flying into/outa bird haven, a.k.a. NYC. I’ve driven the highways there, and actually enjoy it, minus the gridlock I’ve been fortunate to avoid. Dig the big bridges. I’ve always preferred a window seat when taking wing - enjoy the view. Strangely, I used to fly in the front seat of a tiny single-engine Cessna-172 (1966-made) to do live airborne tx reports. I took comfort in knowing that it had a good glide ratio, if we needed to ever put her down. The dying part doesn’t bother me whatsoever, I’m ready and eager to go. It’s the pain part - and the knowing - that I could live (die) without, nosediving at 300mph. On that cheery thought, a dandy day 2 U. We’ve got beautiful sunshine and 11-below-zero wind chills in Lower Mich.
