Marlo Thomas Weighs in on Warren Buffett

Marlo Thomas
Warren Buffett’s estimated net worth is something like $62 billion, so it’s hard not to wonder what he’s up to. Big cars are obviously a giant step backwards in our fight to save the environment – so what’s he thinking? He’s investing heavily in wind power and advising Obama on the economy, so he’s certainly not unaware of both the environmental and fiscal crises we’re facing. Is he seeing a bigger picture — a temporary shift to big cars to kick-start the economy, before launching a whole energy strategy? Or … is he not thinking?

Or maybe he’s thinking that he owns lots of stock in the big 3 and doesn’t want them going under just yet!

It’s hard to know whether he was being serious or not. A branch of Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway - MidAmerica Energy Holdings - has invested 230-million into a Chinese battery firm called the BYD Company. They’re going to put hybrid electric cars on China’s roads this year, and European roads by 2010. Their stated goal is become the world’s biggest automaker by 2025.

I agree with your comment, Marlo. I’m scratching my head over Warren Buffett’s comment - maybe even banging my head on the wall. (Banging my head lightly since I don’t want to hurt myself.) I don’t understand his comment what with the economy and the environment.

You better believe he is seeing a bigger picture, beyond the brain of the Populace. Just think deeper!

Was he offering car loans?

Do you think it was an attempt that he made at being facetious?

this could be viewed as condescending but it isn’t coming from there I only want to ask that you be patient and listen for answers to your concerns since those skills are essential to happiness.
